2016 FANTASY BASEBALL LATE ROUND POWER GRABS

We focused in on late round 2016 fantasy baseball stolen base assets a few days ago as we continue our preview of the upcoming season and today we move to the more scarce power bats that are becoming tougher to uncover in this pitching era.  Try we will though as we found a few names who could be around late in your draft and who could supply some very affordable pop.

Mark Canha:  The Oakland A's are always on the lookout for affordable players that have power and speed and Mark Canha was that guy in 2015 as he smacked 16 home runs and stole 7 bags in less than 500 at-bats.  Canha strikes out a bunch which is why he batted just .254 but the A's should give him enough work to threaten 20 home runs.

Justin Bour:  Despite surprising many by coming out and hitting 23 home runs in 2015 in his first extended major league look, Miami Marlins first baseman Justin Bour is not getting a whole lot of love from the fantasy baseball community base on early 2016 ADP's.  That is foolish as Bour could reach 25 homers this season for the price of a late middle round pick.  Ummmm yes please.

Danny Valencia:  Yes the Oakland A's again but this time we are looking at third baseman/outfielder Danny Valencia.  After getting released by the Toronto Blue Jays last season, Valencia found a home in Oakland where he wound up hitting 11 home runs to go with the 7 he smacked north of the border.  Again playing time is key here as Valencia will get it with the A's and he too is capable of reaching 20 home runs under that scenario.

Trayce Thompson:  This may be a situation to check out during the season but Chicago White Sox property Trayce Thompson has some interesting power/speed ability as he went 13/11 in those categories in the minors in 2015.  Thompson also hit 5 home runs in a late season cup of coffee debut with the White Sox so they had to have liked what they saw.

Domingo Santana:  This kid is one the right team in terms of getting playing time as Domingo Santana is expected to be an everyday guy for the awful Milwaukee Brewers in 2016.  Santana has thump in his bat as he hit 6 home runs in 121 at-bats last season in the majors and another 18 in the minors.  Could be this year's version of Justin Bour.

Tommy Pham:  With Matt Holliday now on his last legs, Tommy Pham could end up with enough playing time to hit 15 home runs.  Pham has good but not great power but he also has shown speed as well when on the farm so he is a bit more interesting than regular late round home run sleeper candidates this season.

Jarrett Parker:  The San Francisco Giants have a Joc Pederson close in Jarrett Parker who can hit home runs, steals bases, and hit .230.  He still has to carve out a starting spot this spring training but Parker has enough tools to at least be a part-time guy.
