FANTASY BASEBALL WINTER MEETINGS REPORT: METS DEAL WITH BEN ZOBRIST COULD BE CLOSE, YANKS AND D-BACKS LATEST TEAMS CONNECTED TO JOSE FERNANDEZ

By Michael Wong

Nashville, TN.--The New York Yankees and Arizona Diamondbacks are the latest two teams reportedly in contact with the Miami Marlins about ace SP Jose Fernandez.  The Marlins continue to take offers for the 23-year-old but reportedly are asking "for the moon" according to one personnel exec here at the Winter Meetings.

-In addition, the Seattle Mariners are working on trading for Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Adam Lind as they further look to bolster their lineup.  They also have had talks with the Texas Rangers regarding 1B Mitch Moreland.  Moreland also is a target of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

-Speaking of the Rangers, add Shawn Tolleson to the mix of closers who are available.  The Rangers are trying to sell high on Tolleson who had a standout year in 2015 as a first-time closer.

-Scott Kazmir is now starting to take center stage as the next pitcher who should go off the board along with Mike Leake.  Nothing new on the Johnny Cueto sweepstakes.

-Finally the Mets are meeting with Ben Zobrist's reps as we speak and a deal could be imminent.
