FANTASY BASEBALL BREAKING NEWS: GIANTS SIGN JEFF SAMARDZJIA TO $90 MILLION DEAL

The San Francisco Giants quickly rebounded in their failed pursuit of Zack Greinke, signing fellow free agent starting pitcher Jeff Samarzjia to a five-year deal worth $90 million.  Despite coming off a terrible season with the Chicago White Sox when he pitched to a 4.96 ERA and 1.29 WHIP, Samarzjia will join a rotation where he figures to serve as the number 2 behind ace Madison Bumgarner.

Analysis:  Boy are the starting pitchers flying off the board now.  Johnny Cueto and Scott Kazmir figure to be next to sign as the early money this winter is clearly flowing in this fraternity's direction.  We knew Samardzjia would struggled in the AL and in an offensive park with the White Sox last season but we are more bullish on him now that he is back in the NL and in a prime pitcher's park.  Still only 30, Samardjia's velocity has remained stable which lessens any concern of stuff erosion.  He is a solid bounce back candidate for 2016.
