FANTASY BASEBALL BREAKING NEWS: CUBS REEL IN JOHN LACKEY WITH TWO-YEAR DEAL

Another starting pitcher went off the market Friday as the Chicago Cubs signed John Lackey to a two-year deal worth between $32-34 million according to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal.  Earlier in the day reports surfaced that the Cubs and Lackey were in serious talks and the final details were cemented in the afternoon.

Analysis:  The Cubs add Lackey to a supreme top of the rotation in Jon Lester and Jake Arrieta as they look to challenge the immense New York Mets collection of arms for 2016.  Lackey no doubt pitched over his head last season with the St. Louis Cardinals in registering a 2.77 ERA but the guy is very durable and still is young enough at 33 to be a mid-3.00 ERA guy going forward.  Worth a late middle round pick in fantasy baseball drafts.
