FANTASY FOOTBALL ISSUES: EDDIE LACY NOW OUT AS STARTER IN GREEN BAY

Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy confirmed on Wednesday that James Starks is now the clear-cut starter at running back for the team and that Eddie Lacy would now serve as just a backup.  It was a move weeks in the making as Starks has vastly outplayed Lacy from the start and that has only grown more stark in recent week.  As a result, Lacy is now a waiver wire cut from almost all fantasy football lineups, just 9 weeks after he was the number 1 pick in a lot of leagues and at worst a top five guy in almost all setups.  Lacy has dealt with groin and leg injuries almost throughout the 2015 season which no doubt has hurt his numbers but he also came to camp overweight and seemed to lack explosiveness in his running.  Averaging only 3.7 yards per carry, Lacy just did not fire at any point this season.  Those who invested such a high pick in Lacy this season, like those who used a similar pick on fellow busts Jamaal Charles, Le'Veon Bell, and Andrew Luck are royally in trouble with this.

What is really disturbing about Lacy are the similarities to another former Alabama running back in Trent Richardson.  Richardson's best season as a pro was his rookie year with the Cleveland Browns but then completely bottomed out from that point on to where he is now out of the leagues.  Lacy already is starting to follow in the same path as Richardson and one only has to look at the very high usage Alabama backs have had under Nick Saban over the years.  There is surely a link in there somewhere and so Lacy joins the other three guys mentioned as top five picks who all went bust before Week 10.  Just crazy.
