FANTASY BASEBALL WINTER MEETINGS REPORT: BRAVES TRYING TO UNLOAD ANYTHING NOT NAILED DOWN

By Michael Wong

Boca Raton. Fla.--The Atlanta Braves want to pretty much move anything that is not nailed down according to a number of other MLB execs who have been in contact with the team.  Cameron Maybin, Michael Bourn, and Nick Swisher have all been offered up, while Andrelton Simmons can also be had as well.  There was a report that the Braves asked the New York Mets for either Matt Harvey or Jacob DeGrom for Simmons which is rdiculous no matter what side you are on there but it shows that they at least want a lot in return for their defensive whizz.  The Los Angeles Angels are believed to have interest in Simmons.

-The Seattle Mariners are gettign close to inking free agent catcher Chris Iannetta to challenge Mike Zunino in 2016 but either way both guys really struggle to hit so this is not much of an improvement.

-Jackie Bradley Jr. could be had via trade, with the Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants, and Kansas City Royals showing interest.

-The St. Louis Cardinals are ready to jump in on the David Price, Johnny Cueto, and Zack Greinke sweepstakes after losing Lance Lynn to Tommy John.

-Jose Quintana is drawing a great deal of interest but the Chicago White Sox want to move Chris Sale instead due to durability concerns.

-The Joakim Soria sweepstakes continue on as the Royals are interested in a reunion.  The Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers remain involved as well, with the latter likely eying Soria as a closer.
