FANTASY BASEBALL TRADE FALLOUT: PHILS ACQUIRE JEREMY HELLICKSON FROM D-BACKS

While the Philadelphia Phillies are clearly in rebuild mode, they still need some veterans to help tutor the young players on the team.  With that in mind, the Phillies completed a trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday by acquiring starting pitcher Jeremy Hellickson for RHP Sam McWilliams.  While still young at 28, Hellickson is now one of the elder statesmen on the Phillies and he will go right near the top of the 2016 rotation which is quite an indictment on the state of the team's pitching.  While Hellickson has been somewhat decent at times, he comes off a horrendous 2015 campaign when he pitched to a 4.62 ERA which followed a 4.52 performance the year prior with the Tampa Bay Rays.  Hellickson is the definition of a mediocre pitcher as his K/9 sits only in the mid-7.00 range and his home run rate has been solidly above average since he became a major league pitcher.  For fantasy baseball purposes, Hellickson is nothing more than an SP 5 in mixed setups.  He can be left to the waiver wire during the draft and you only have to turn to Hellickson when injuries thin your depth.
