FANTASY BASEBALL HOT STOVE NEWS: YANKS EXPECTED TO "HEAVILY" PURUSE DANIEL MURPHY, JEFF SAMARDZJIA

The New York Yankees are expected to open up the vault for free agent starting pitcher Jeff Samardzjia and second baseman Daniel Murphy according to a team source connected to the front office.  The Yankees are not sold on Rob Refsnyder as the future at second base and the team source indicated the team likes Murphy's lefthanded swing taking aim at the short porch in right.  Meanwhile the source went on to say that the Yanks have had internal discussions about Samardzjia going back to the July trade deadline and are expected to offer him a multi-year deal.

Analysis:  Both guys make a ton of sense for the Yankees so this is not likely just smoke.  Samardzjia will come a bit cheaper than even he expected off his rough 2015, while Murphy will likely have a more robust market after he hit a home run in six straight postseason games as few weeks ago.  At least in the case of Murphy, a move to Yankee Stadium could push him toward the 20 home run mark for the first time in his career.
