FANTASY BASEBALL BREAKING NEWS: COLBY RASMUS TO BE FIRST PLAYER TO ACCEPT QUALIFYING OFFER

Outfielder Colby Rasmus will become the first player to accept the qualifying offer from his team, in his case a $15.8 million deal on a one-year contract from the Houston Astros.  Despite batting just .238 last season, Rasmus was a power bat with 25 home runs and 61 RBI.  It is not known if the Astros were surprised by the move in thinking Rasmus might of declined it but history was made here in economic terms.

Analysis:  The Astros have to be kicking themselves over this as there is no way they want to pay that much to a limited player like Rasmus.  Rasmus has never lived up to the hype he had when he first came up with the St. Louis Cardinals, instead becoming a terrible average hitter with solid power.  Not nearly worth such a lofty salary.
