FANTASY FOOTBALL PREASON WEEK 2 WRAPUP: ALFRED MORRIS TAKING HEAT FROM MATT JONES

Thursday brought the next batch of fantasy football-worthy news items emanating from the second preseason games.  Lets get right to it.

-We already touched on the concussion and shoulder injury suffered by Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III Thursday night.  It was beyond ugly for Griffin in terms of having zero time to throw and he was basically sacked or hit every single time he went back into a non-existent pocket.  Griffin failed the concussion tests after leaving woozy and clutching his shoulder and now there is an open debate about if he could be cleared in time for Week 1.  Either way, the Washington offensive line is as bad as there is in the entire NFL and that is an absolutely horrendous match up with Griffin whose slight frame can't take NFL pounding.  Griffin's rookie season is nothing but a memory now and he will likely be replaced by Kirk Cousins at some point again in 2015 due to poor performance or for getting injured yet again.

-Don't look now but Redskins rookie running back Matt Jones is putting heat on veteran power back Alfred Morris.  Jones ran for 44 yards on 8 carries which has brought his preseason average to a stellar 5.5 through two games.  Unlike Morris, Jones can also catch the football which has him slated for at least third down duty initially.  There is no doubt that Morris has been very good his first three seasons in the league as a very durable and dependable power runner but he has zero ability to catch the football which makes him a major liability in PPR formats.  Watch preseason game 3 closely to see if Jones can keep it going.

-Tyrod Taylor will be the starting QB for the Buffalo Bills in Week 1 as he played well Thursday night in completing 7-of-10 passes for 65 yards, while also rushing for 41 more yards on 4 carries.  Taylor clearly knows how to move around in the pocket and has a tremendous amount of speed for a passer.  Even better, he showed during the game that he can in fact throw in the run.  Still Taylor is going to have his issues during the meat of the season and the Bills have arguably the worst QB situation in the league outside of Cleveland.

-Speaking of Cleveland, Josh McCown was absolutely brutal in throwing two interceptions in three series Thursday night.  McCown was horrific last season when starting for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and so the Browns really have to be kidding themselves here in thinking he will be able to handle the reigns again beginning in Week 1.  Those who are Johnny Manziel fans just might ge their wish to see him start soon enough.

-Joseph Randle is doing his best to throw away his golden opportunity with the Dallas Cowboys this season as he suffered another injury to his oblique Thursday.  As a result Randle will not play in the team's second preseason game and the timing is terrible with veteran Darren McFadden being just activated from the PUP list.  Having seen his name shoot to the fourth round in drafts, Randle and his strictly all-run and no pass catching game has a bunch of bust potential attached to it.

-Bills head coach Rex Ryan did say that RB LeSean McCoy will be ready to go in Week 1 despite his hamstring injury that he suffered in practice earlier in the week.
