FANTASY BASEBALL WELCOME TO THE SHOW: KALEB COWART 3B LOS ANGELES ANGELS

With the Los Angeles Angels having put third baseman David Freese on the disabled list with a fractured index finger, the team made the move to promote top third base prospect Kaleb Cowart to make his debut Tuesday night versus the Chicago White Sox.  Cowart certainly has the pedigree to be interesting as he was the 18th overall pick in the 2010 MLB Draft.  Now 23-years-old, Cowart was red hot at Triple-A prior to the promotion as he was batting .323 with 6 home runs and 45 RBI in 62 games.  Now as far as what Cowart could do in terms of fantasy baseball, the answer there is not much.  While the .323 average is no doubt impressive, it is also quite misleading as Cowart batted a woeful .223 in 126 games at Double-A a year ago as he struck out at a 20.3 percent clip.  Even going back to Double-A in 2013, Cowart batted only .221 as a patterns begins to emerge.  So how does Cowart bat .323 this season?  Try a ridiculously lucky .422 BABIP that is almost unfathomable.  IN addition to the average troubles that we will likely see at the major league level, Cowart also doesn't have much in the way of power.  Cowart does have the ability to steal bases as he swiped 26 last season and so far in 2015 has 10 but that is pretty much as far as it goes in terms of potential contributions when it comes to fantasy baseball going forward during his initial stay in the majors.  In other words, Cowart is not worth the add.
