FANTASY BASEBALL TRADE DEADLINE NEWS: METS WERE ONES TO PULL OUT OF CARLOS GOMEZ DEAL DUE TO HIP CONCERNS

Wilmer Flores is now probably crying tears of joy as it was learned late Wednesday night that the New York Mets were the ones who pulled out of the Carlos Gomez trade due to concerns about his hip.  It was first reported that the Brewers were holding up the deal due to looking over Zack Wheeler's medicals due to his having undergone Tommy John surgery GM Sandy Alderson later admitted it was the Mets who scuttled the deal.

Analysis:  Just a weird scene all the way around last night, what with Flores crying on the field and still being in the game when the trade looked like it went down, to Scott Boras coming out publicly in saying Gomez is perfectly healthy.  So Gomez stays put and now no team will likely get involved here given the medical concerns.  The Mets now will move back to Jay Bruce or Yoenis Cespedes, with some traction already gained on the latter.
