FANTASY FOOTBALL AT THE COMBINE: WINSTON AND MARIOTA WEIGHT IN

By Randy Rubin

Indianapolis, IN.--Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston kicked off the measureable festivities early Thursday at the NFL Combine as more and more rumors continue to swirl.  Mariota measured in at 6-3 and 222 pounds while Winston came in at 6-3 and 231.  The surprise was that Mariota's weight was up a bit from his college number this past season which means he likely was hitting the gym leading up to the Combine.  Meanwhile Lovie Smith pretty much confirmed that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will stay in-state and take Winston number 1 overall when he spoke publicly late Wednesday about how he is not deterred by his off-the-field issues.

-The Oakland Raiders are finished with RB Darren McFadden as they will go full-bore with Latavius Murray in 2015.

-Look for the Lions and Reggie Bush to formally part ways.  Theo Riddick was raved about by GM Martin Mayhew publicly Thursday which is telling.

-Bruce Arians reiterated that RB Andre Ellington will be the focal point of the Arizona Cardinals offense in 2015.  This despite the fact Ellington was shut down early with a tendon injury in his left foot.  There is much debate about if Ellington can handle a full workload but Arians at least is suggesting he thinks he can.

-Contrary to yesterday's reports, Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine suggests that Brian Hoyer could still return.  This is pure lip service though as I have been told nothing but the fact that he is a goner.  Still they will look for someone to compete with Johnny Manziel who is still in rehab.

-The Atlanta Falcons will join the Browns as early favorites for Julius Thomas.

-Missouri WR Dorial Green-Beckham measured at a ridiculous 6-5 and 237.  What a handful he will be at the next level.

-Northern Iowa RB David Johnson came in at 6-1 and 224.
