FANTASY BASEBALL BREAKING NEWS: DODGERS CLOSER KENLEY JANSEN OUT 8-12 WEEKS AFTER FOOT SURGERY

Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star closer Kenley Jansen is out the next 8-12 weeks after he underwent surgery to remove a growth on his left foot.  Jansen reported discomfort while running to the Dodgers who ordered a CT scan that showed the growth on his fifth metatarsal.  No word yet from the team on who could close in Jansen's place.

Analysis:  Wow.  Just terrible news for those who already had drafts and selected Jansen in the high middle rounds.  Once again this position is fill of peril and now Jansen won't pitch in a major league game until May.  A dreaded committee could be used by Don Mattingly early on but if he goes with one guy that is already in-house, Joel Peralta would figure to get first crack.  Peralta has been a very underrated setup man the last few seasons and is worth targeting in the late rounds of your draft.  Meanwhile look for chatter to increase about the Dodgers looking at remaining free agents Rafael Soriano and Francisco Rodriguez.
