FANTASY BASEBALL BREAKING CLOSER NEWS: BOBBY PARNELL TO CLOSE UPON RETURN

According to New York Mets manager Terry Collins, the team has told rehabbing closer Bobby Parnell that the ninth inning job will be his when he makes it back in late April from last season's Tommy John procedure.  However Collins did leave some wiggle room regarding presumed closer Jenrry Mejia as far as his early performance could change things.  “We provide opportunities and it’s up to the players to make the most of it. If we start the season with Jenrry as the closer and he is dealing, he’s going to be the closer,” Collins said. “But right now I just want Bobby to prepare himself to be the closer, because that is where we think he is best fit.”

Analysis:  Tough situation here as the Mets have up to four guys capable of closing which also includes Vic Black and Jeurys Familia.  Mejia did a terrific job once he ascended to closer last season after Parnell pitched in only the opener after blowing out his elbow.  Parnell himself was tremendous the year prior so he has proven he can do the job as well.  Push all the closer contenders down a rung at this point given the lack of clarity.
