2015 FANTASY BASEBALL INJURY FALLOUT: JONATHAN LUCROY CATCHER MILWAUKEE BREWERS

With spring training beginning in just a few days, there already are some big name players that have come down with injuries that will keep them sidelined for a bit.  Following on the heels of Josh Hamilton and Victor Martinez, Milwaukee Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy will miss the next 4-6 weeks due to a strained right hamstring.  With the season opener still seven-plus weeks away, Lucroy still has enough time to make it back before the games begin to count which is the bottom line when evaluating this fantasy baseball value for 2015.  A slam dunk top five catcher before the injury, the fact the 4-6 week timetable has him in line to start the season behind the dish shouldn't alter his value all that much.  Having hit .280 or more three straight seasons (with two of those campaign being north of .300), Lucroy is the rare catcher who can hit for a very useful average.  In addition, Lucroy has also been the extremely rare catcher who can help in all five standard categories as he has stolen 17 bases over the last three seasons which is like 27 from another position.  The counting stats in runs and RBI are solid as well as Lucroy can play first base when he is not behind the plate which you want to have with your catcher.  Finally, Lucroy can do just enough in the power categories to be solid there as well, having hit 12 home runs three times in the last four years, while coming in at 18 in the other season.  The worst part about Lucroy is that he was a guy you could draft late as recently as 2012 but his very good numbers recently have pushed his draft price severely upward.  If you draft is being held tomorrow, Lucroy is still worth the price he was going for just a few days prior.  If you can get him for a discount after the injury happened, even better.
