FANTASY FOOTBAL DAILY PLAYOFF LOOK: SCRATCH OFF CAM NEWTON AND MAYBE JULIO JONES

The fantasy football playoffs have fully arrived for those who didn't have a wild card round last week.  With that said, now is a very crucial time to stay on top of all the injuries and happenings as no mistakes can be tolerated this late.

-For anyone who was still owning Cam Newton, the serious car accident he was involved in Tuesday, where his vehicle flipped over four times, was a huge blow as it will likely keep him out of Sunday's game.  The real shame is that after a season filled with struggle, Newton turned in his most dominant outing of the season in Week 14 as he torched the New Orleans Saints for two passing touchdowns and a third on the ground.  Thus those who are using Newton as a QB 2 in two-passer formats are going to have to look to the wire for help.  Johnny Manziel is getting his first start of the season anad he is worth a look.  Also Teddy Bridgewater has been terrific the last three weeks so he too is worth checking out.

-Potential big problem with Julio Jones as a hip injury finished his incredible Monday night game early.  Jones' status was not updated by the team other than saying he would not practice Wednesday.  It is likely we are looking at a dreaded game-time decision situation here which is a problem for Matt Ryan's owners as well.  If Jones were to sit out, Ryan becomes shaky despite a still solid pairing of Harry Douglas and Roddy White remaining.  This is a situation that has to be monitored closely over the next few days and prepare to pick up Douglas in all formats if you are a Jones owner.

-Torrey Smith is not likely to play Sunday as his knee is becoming a major problem.  Smith was limping around badly in last Sunday's game and his production was diminished as a result.  Bench Smith in all formats.

-Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy's own hip injury is not considered a major deal by team brass.  Lacy had a strong game Monday night versus the Falcons but just in case adding James Starks as insurance is not the worst idea.

-Julius Thomas is expected to return Sunday after missing two games with a bum knee.  Just in time for the playoff weeks and figure on Peyton Manning getting reacquainted with his old friend.

-Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson is day-to-day after suffering a concussion last Sunday.  Johnson has to pass the NFL protocol to return this week which he is expected to do.

As always keep checking in for more updates as the week goes on.
