FANTASY BASEBALL WINTER MEETINGS REPORT: METS ON PROWL FOR INFIELD HELP

By Michael Wong

San Diego, CA.--As I reported yesterday afternoon, the Chicago White Sox were not going to lose out again yo the New York Yankees when it came to David Robertson.  The fourth year guranateed got Robertson to sign late last night which trumped the Yankee offer which was for three years but at a higher annual salary.

Despite the obvious notion that Dellin Betances will now close for the Yanks, a team source said Andrew Miller might get a chance to compete for the gig.

-The New York Mets continue to talk with the Seattle Mariners about Brad Miller which goes back to last season.  They also are having talks with the Rangers about Jurickaon Profar but the cost is high.  The Rangers offers Elvis Andrus but the Mets won't touch that contract.

-The Boston Red Sox are trying to buy low on Justin Masterson who they want to get on a one year deal.  Earlier rumors of a multi-yer offer are false.

-Still nothing yet with Jon Lester who reportedly will get more than $140 million.  The Red Sox called again this morning despite reports they were out.  The Giants and Cubs remain the favorites.

-The Oakland A's want to hold onto Scott Kazmir who has an affordable contract.  Other team have been calling thinking Billy Beans is doing a total rebuild.
