FANTASY BASEBALL WINTER MEETINGS REPORT: PABLO SANDOVAL DRAWING INTEREST FROM WHITE SOX

By Michael Wong

Phoenix, AZ.--More from the Winter Meetings are the chatter continues to grow.

-A day after the Boston Red Sox began contract talks with free agent 3B Pablo Sandoval, the Chicago White Sox entered the fray Tuesday.  The White Sox have also been connected to free agent outfielder Nori Aoki as they look to get back into contention this season.

-The Cincinnati Reds are peddling both Mike Leake and Mat Latos to anyone who will listen.  With Latos already dealing with some health issues this offseason, Leake is the more likely to be dealt.

-A New York Mets official told me directly late last night that the team is in fact very interested in trading for Troy Tulowitzki but so far the Colorado Rockies' asking price is very high.  The key will be how much money the Rockies are willing to eat and that will than determine the quality of players going back.  The official told me that Zach Wheeler and Jacob DeGrom "are not going anywhere."  He did not say the same about Noah Syndegaard.

-The Kansas City Royals might be the one team to bite on dealing for Philadelphia Phillies slugger Ryan Howard.  The Phillies of course will give Howard away if they could but they will have to eat a large portion of the contact.

-Speaking of the Phillies, they want to tear down the joint as they are offering up closer Jonathan Papelbon and ace SP Cole Hamels as well.  They would have moved Cliff Lee more aggressively if he didn't struggle with his health last season.  Hamels will cost two prime prospects while Papelbon is a cash move.

More later.
