FANTASY BASEBALL BREAKING NEWS: TIGERS RE-SIGN VICTOR MARTINEZ TO A FOUR-YEAR DEAL WORTH $68 MILLION

Another big name came off the block Wednesday as the Detroit Tigers re-signed 1B/DH Victor Martinez to a four-year deal worth $68 million.  Coming off an MVP-type season when he batted .335 with 32 home runs and 103 RBI, Martinez cashed in big time despite the fact he turns 36.

Analysis:  Clearly the Tigers didn't want to let Martinez get away as they invested a huge amount of money for a guy who is 36 and mostly just a DH.  The 32 home runs last season scream outlier so dialing back Martinez' power expectations for 2015 is the smart plan.  Still Martinez is one of the best pure hitters in baseball and could hit 25 home runs and drive in 110 while batting well over .300 once again this season.  As dependable a hitter as they come.
