2014 FANTASY FOOTBALL STATUS REPORT: ARIAN FOSTER RB HOUSTON TEXANS

                                            Arian Foster

Leading the NFL in rushing through two weeks?  Not Jamaal Charles.  Not LeSean McCoy.  Not Adrian Peterson.  And not Matt Forte.  No instead it is Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray who is than followed closely by Houston Texans veteran Arian Foster and we are not doing a time warp back to 2010.  Finally healthy after two straight seasons ruined by injury, a refreshed Foster has literally hit the ground running through two weeks of the 2014 season based on his two outings listed below:

Week 1

27 carries for 103 yards/2 catches for 17 yards

Week 2

28 carries for 138 yards and 1 TD/2 catches for 12 yards

Needless to say Foster has been terrific and a real value so far to those who believed he had another good year left in the tank.  Yours truly preached all summer about the wisdom of drafting Foster in Round 2 or as late in Round 3 as I firmly believed having almost all of 2014 off due to recovering from surgery served as a refresher for the veteran who is still young at 28.  Foster has proven me right as he once again is serving as the rare workhorse back for the Texans and run-loving new head coach Bill O'Brien.  While Foster's catches per game are down from his heyday, he is averaging an obscene 7.3 yards per carry.  Foster has shown a nice burst through the line which confirms that he has not lost a step and the Texans are ready to continue feeding him the football due to having the mediocre Ryan Fitzpatrick under center.  There is certainly the risk for injury with Foster going forward as the carries pile up but that is a worry for another day.  Stock up on some backups as a hedge for that threat but otherwise continue enjoying the ride.  It has been fun so far to say the least.
