FANTASY BASEBALL INJURY FALLOUT: PAUL GOLDSCHMIDT OUT FOR AWHILE WITH BROKEN HAND

Ugh.  One of the biggest names in 2014 fantasy baseball hit the DL on Saturday and this would be no minor deal.  The news that Arizona Diamondbacks All-Star 1B Paul Goldschmidt had suffered a fractured left hand after being hit by a pitch by the Pittsburgh Pirates' Ernesto Frieri Friday was a monstrous bit of bad news for his fantasy baseball owners and his absence won't be short to say the least.  A fractured hand has ranged from one month to six weeks as far as DL and recovery time and that pretty much means that Goldschmidt may only supply two more weeks of his top notch numbers the rest of the way.  That is a huge loss of production that absolutely can't be matched no matter how you slice it.  It is too bad Lucas Duda is no longer still available on the wire because he would have been a very solid replacement but some other names to consider are Adam LaRoche, Ryan Howard, Mark Texeira, Nick Swisher, and Garret Jones.  Not very exciting guys to say the least but when you lose someone as significant as Goldschmidt, there truly is no way to completely get by.
