FANTASY BASEBALL BREAKING NEWS: CARLOS BELTRAN LIKELY TO UNDERGO SURGERY ON ELBOW, COULD MISS 6-12 WEEKS

New York Yankees outfielder Carlos Beltran has been told it is recommended he have surgery on the bone spur in his elbow, an injury suffered when taking batting practice swings last Monday.  If Beltran does in fact have the surgery, he is expected to miss around 6-12 weeks which was a timeline confirmed by GM Brian Cashman on Thursday.  Beltran expressed his thoughts on going to get a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews and the Yankees are likely going to allow him to do so.

Analysis:  Wow.  Beltran was slumping badly before the injury and now this.  Unfortunately at 37 these are things that are part of the equation in taking an aging player onto your roster.  Stash Beltran away as he still has nice value at Yankee Stadium but this is obviously a decent hit to his owners.

  1. I have Beltran on 2 of my teams and I don't think i'll bother to hold him on either team.
