FANTASY BASEBALL STAT OF THE DAY: HOME RUNS BY CATCHERS LAST SIX YEARS

Over the last six years the most home runs in the majors by a catcher is New York Yankees backstop Brian McCann with 171.  Second in that stretch?   The Boston Red Sox' A.J. Pierzynski with 117.

A couple of things to chew on there.  One is that McCann is as consistent as any catcher in fantasy baseball when it comes to power and he has a clear shot at 30 home runs as a lefty in his new park.  Pierzynski meanwhile has made a career of overachieving as evidenced by him being second.  He presents some very nice and dirt cheap value for one more season at least.
