2014 FANTASY SPORTS BOSS FANTASY BASEBALL NATIONAL LEAGUE DARKHORSE CY YOUNG PICK

The requests keep coming in for us to reveal our pick for the darkhorse fantasy baseball Cy Young potential winner which we almost nailed dead one each of the first three years we did this in selecting Madison Bumgarner, Gio Gonzalez, and Adam Wainright respectively.  Despite all three of the previous guys coming from the NL, we considered the AL as well before selecting the pick.  This season we will make a pick out of BOTH leagues and we start today with the non-DH league.  As always the criteria for a pitcher to get the nod for this selection has to be someone who is not on the front tier of guys who are in line to possibly win the Cy Young.  Despite Wainwright being a clear ace pitcher, he was not all the way back from Tommy John surgery yet when 2013 got underway and Gonzalez and Bumgarner were two guys who were not there yet either when discussing their optimum potential either.  So let's get right down to it.

When looking over the group of NL pitchers who qualifies under our scenario for the darkhorse Cy Young pick, we quickly we were in agreement over who the choice would be.  We are going to stay in St. Louis this season and go with Shelby Miller who is in line to be the next great power pitcher.  We did a feature on Miller a few days ago which you can read here:  http://www.thefantasysportsboss.com/2014/02/2014-fantasy-baseball-player-analyzer_14.html

In the interest of not being repetitive, Miller has it all when it comes to being the next big thing.  He already averages a K/IP, has a miniscule hit rate, and plays on a team that wins plenty of games.  Other than the occasional wildness and gopher balls that plague most young pitchers, Miller is a beast.  Draft Miller on all of your teams and around seven months from now we will remind you that we picked him to win the Cy Young that has a great chance of being his.
