FANTASY BASEBALL BREAKING NEWS: YANKS 3B ALEX RODRIGUEZ SLAPPED WITH 162 GAME BAN PLUS POSTSEASON VIA ARBITRATOR

The arbitration ruling is in for New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez and it was not good for the player as Frederic Horowitz handed down a 162-game suspension which would also include any postseason games.  In essence Horowitz suspended Rodriguez for all of the 2014 season which the player vows to continue fighting.  Horowitz did cut Rodriguez' overall suspension from 200 games to the 162 which is at least something positive for Rodriguez but his lawyers maintain they will push this to federal court.  It is widely assumed the federal courts will uphold the 162 ban as they don't historically alter arbitration decisions.  However Rodriguez's aim is likely to continue to play while the hearing is going on much like what happened last season as he awaited the original arbitration hearing to take place.

Analysis:  Obviously you don't need to touch Rodriguez when it comes to 2014 fantasy baseball and that includes as a backup bench guy.  It is amazing the lengths Rodriguez is going to try and fight this much in the same way Roger Clemens went all the way to Congress to clear his name which he ultimately did in a farce of a trial where the smoking gun evidence implicating the pitcher was not allowed to be presented.  Either way it is another sad ending for what was once one of the biggest stars of the game during the steroid era.
