2014 FANTASY BASEBALL SHORTSTOPS I LOVE/HATE MORE THAN YOU

After a few days break, I resume my look around the diamond when it comes to identifying the players I like/hate more than you.  Today I bring you the shortstops which is historically one of the most shallow positions in the game.

SHORTSTOPS I LIKE MORE THAN YOU

1.  Hanley Ramirez:  I am a sucker for Ramirez and always have been.  I know he has driven you all crazy the last three seasons and 2013 was no different as his entire first half was almost completely spent on the DL with two separate injuries.  Well once Ramirez returned, he was back to his first round self with the bat as he finished the year hitting a great .345 with 20 home runs and 10 steals in only 304 at-bats.  If you were to project those numbers over 500 at-bats, Ramirez would have hit around 30 home runs with 16 steals.  First round numbers.  Remember at shortstop numbers like this are incredibly rare so hope he doesn't get hurt and dive in again.

2.  Billy Hamilton:  Hamilton is slated to be the Cincinnati Reds' leadoff hitter this season and that means we could be seeing the first 100 steal season since the days of Vince Coleman.  Hamilton already owns the minor league record for steals and if you ask him he will tell you he is aiming at the MLB mark as well.  The average could be shaky and there is no pop to talk about but Hamilton could win you the steals category just by himself.

3.  J.J. Hardy:  Hardy has been very good to me over the years as the rare shortstop who can hit 25 home runs with 80 RBI.  Yeah the average struggles are well known but you never have to pay a lot and inevitably Hardy finishes as a top 7 or so shortstop.

SHORTSTOPS I HATE MORE THAN YOU

1.  Troy Tulowitzki:  Sorry I have never felt the desire to draft Tulowitzki in the first round the last four years due to the fact he is you good a bet as any other big name player to spend some time on the DL each and every season.  Sure the allure is great to add such a potent offensive player but are constantly worrying about the next injury which is right around the corner and I don't need that stress.

2.  Ben Zobrist:  Yeah the versatility is nice but Zobrist always leaves me wanting more.  The average is shaky and his steals are going to dry up real soon as he continues to age.

3.  Elvis Andrus:  I tear apart Andrus every season as grossly overrated and he continues to hold that title.  This is a guy who is only a plus in two categories which are runs and steals and that is unacceptable from a guy you will have to use a fourth or fifth round pick on.

There you have it.  As always let us hear your thoughts.
