FANTASY BASEBALL HOT STOVE REPORT: MIKE NAPOLI COULD RETURN TO TEXAS

By Michael Wong

More and more news coming down the pike as the Hot Stove League continues to heat up.

-There could be a reunion in the works between Mike Napoli and the Texas Rangers.  The Rangers and every other MLB team were shocked at how good Napoli played first base defensively last season and are now willing to sign him to play the position for 2014 if they can agree on terms.  Napoli has also been linked to the Colorado Rockies, Seattle Mariners, and the Boston Red Sox.

-Clete Thomas was signed to a minor-league deal by the Philadelphia Phillies.

-Speaking of the Rockies, James Loney is being courted by the Rockies as well.  Loney has gotten more attention that I anticipated as it seems like his mini-revival last year in Tampa Bay helped his cause.

-The Miami Marlins are the new kids on the block as far as making overtures to the St. Louis Cardinals for 3B David Freese.  It looks like the Cards are completely done with Freese who had a very underwhelming 2013 campaign.

-The Los Angeles Dodgers have no interest in Hiroki Kuroda.  It looks like it is the New York Yankees or back to Japan for Kuroda.

-The Phillies want to add Edward Mujica or Brian Wilson as a setup man to Jonathan Papelbon.  Mujica wants to look for a closer role before he commits to setup however given how good he was in the role last season for the Cardinals before a late injury.

-The Minnesota Twins will either sign Bronson Arroyo or Ricky Nolasco according to a team source.

-If the Marlins want to deal Logan Morrison, there are more than a few teams who will listen.

-Matt Kemp is drawing interest from the Rangers but they want to study his medical records closely.
