FANTASY BASEBALL BREAKING NEWS: RANGERS DEAL 2B IAN KINSLER TO TIGERS FOR 1B PRINCE FIELDER

In a truly blockbuster trade, the Texas Rangers dealt All Star 2B Ian Kinsler to the Detroit Tigers for All Star 1B Prince Fielder.  Both Kinsler and Fielder are coming off down 2013 seasons by their own standard but both guys fill a need for their new teams.  In addition the move opens up the second base spot for Rangers top prospect Jurickson Profar.

Analysis:  This is truly a blockbuster trade in every sense of the word.  Both Kinsler and Fielder have been among the best at their positions over the last 5-7 years and Profar getting the second base spot is also key.  The move actually brings down the already sliding value of Kinsler whose numbers slid across the board last season amid concerns he is losing some of his game as he moves into his 30's.  Meanwhile Fielder will see a drastic improvement in value as he still is in his prime and will now get to clear the outfield fences in one of the best home run ballparks in the majors in Texas.  Fielder could easily get back to the 40 home run mark there.  Finally Profar is a terrific post-hype sleeper candidate getting the opening day start at second base.  While he didn't blow anyone away last season as a rookie, he has been compared to Hanley Ramirez which is all you need to know regarding his potential.
