FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: SAINTS WR MARQUES COLSTON (COLLARBONE) QUESTIONABLE FOR SUNDAY

New Orleans Saints WR Masques Colston has been listed as questionable for Sunday's game as he tries to come back early from a broken collarbone.  Colston broke the collarbone in Week 1 and was supposed to be out until Week 6.  He has practiced all week and both he and the team think he wil play.

Analysis:  Its likely the team is being cautious here but I think Colston will play.  He doesnt seem to be limited in practice which tells you he should be good to go.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: EAGLES WR JEREMY MACKLIN (HAMSTRING) PRACTICES FRIDAY, IS PROBABLE

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Macklin practices Friday and is now listed as probable to play in Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers.  Macklin had sat out practices all week until Friday with the hmastring but both he and the team are satisfied he will be able to go Sunday.

Analsysis:  Good news for both Macklin and Michael Vick who will have his full allotment of receivers for Sunday's game.  Get him out there.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: GIANTS WR HAKEEM NICKS (KNEE) LISTED AS PROBABLE SUNDAY

New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks has been listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals after he sat out Thursday's practice with minor swelling in his knee.  Nicks returned to practice Friday and went through all the drills.

Analysis:  Nicks is good to go for Sunday so no worries here.  He has a good matchup against the sad Cardinals defense.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: PACKERS RB RYAN GRANT OUT/JAMES STARKS TO START

Green Bay Packers RB Ryan Grant has officially been listed as OUT for Sunday's game due to a bruised kidney.  James Starks will start against the Denver Broncos.

Analysis:  Not surprising since Mike McCarthy hinted at this earlier in the week.  Starks has a nice matchup against the Broncos so take a shot if you need help.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: COWBOYS WR DEZ BRYANT (QUAD) VERY LIMITED IN PRACTICE FRIDAY

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant was very limited in practice according to head coach Jason Garrett and he will be listed as questionable to play Sunday.  Bryant first hurt the quad back in Week 1 and he apparently re-injured is last week.

Analysis:  Bryant just cant kick the injury bug.  If you are a Bryant owner, its best to look for a replacement now before its too late.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: CHARGERS WR VINCENT JACKSON (ABDOMEN) AND RB RYAN MATTHEWS (ANKLE) BACK AT PRACTICE

San Diego Chargers WR Vincent Jackson and RB Ryan Matthews were back at practice Friday after sitting out Thursday with abdomen and ankle problems respectively.  Both are likely to play on Sundauy after reporting no issues.

Analysis:  This is nice to hear, especially in the case of Matthews who has an extensive injury history.  Get ready to put them both out there.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: CARDINALS RB BEANIE WELLS (HAMSTRING_ TO BE GAME-TIME DECISION

Arizona Cardinals RB Beanie Wells is headed for a game-time decision due to continued issues with his hamstring.  Wells missed last week's game after hurting the hamstring in practice and it hasnt improved much since.

Analysis:  Wells once again is an annoying player to own.  He just cant stay on the field.  If this goes on any longer, cut bait and look elsewhere.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: TEXANS TO GIVE RB ARIAN FOSTER FULL LOAD SUNDAY

There will be no time-share in the Houston Texans backfield Sunday as Arian Foster will get the full load of carries according to head coach Gary Kubiak.  Foster is just returning from an injured hamstring and was replaced by Ben Tate who did well in his absence.

Analysis:  Great news since it was first reported that Foster and Tate would share the load this week.  Foster has a tough matchup against the Steelers but if healthy, he should be able to start earning back some trust form his fantasy football owners who have been without him pretty much all season.

RYAN STEELE'S WEEK 4 PLAYS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE

Fantasy Sports Boss professional handicapper Ryan Steele's Week 4 plays are up and ready for purchase.  Ryan is off to an 11-4 start to the season with is prime plays and is looking for more.  Use the BUY NOW tab to the right to purchase and get in on the winning.

FANTASY FOOTBALL PLAYER ANALYZER: KENDALL HUNTER RB SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

Last Sunday San Francsico 49ers RB Frank Gore injured his ankle in the second half of their victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.  Gore, who is no stranger to injury, has yet to practice this week and has stated publicly that he is not sure whether he will play or not.  So with a nice matchup this week against the run-defense challenged Philadelphia Eagles, it would be a good idea for fantasy football players to get to know backup RB Kendall Hunter a bit better.  So lets dig in and find out what Hunter could offer and if he is someone who can be of use this week.

As far as Hunter is concerned, the rookie back was a fourth round pick in the 2011 draft and has appeared in all three games for the team after a very good preseason where many thought the team should start him and let the contract-unhappy Gore go.  Coming from an explosive offense in college at Oklahoma State, Hunter was known as a guy who can both run and catch the football.  His opportunities were next to nothing in his first two pro games however and it took Gore hitting the sidelines next week for Hunter to show the masses what he could do.  He would up helping the 49ers clinch the win over the Bengals by running for 26 yards on 9 carries while also catching 2 passes for 12 yards.  One of the 9 rushes resulted in his first score of his career.  Yes a small sample but Hunter showed in that small dosage that he can contribute in both facets of the game while also hitting the end zone.

If Gore does in fact sit out this week, Hunter would get a chance to go against an Eagles team that allowed Carnell Williams to run wild on them in Week 1, get gashed by pretty much every Falcons offensive player in Week 2, along with the same deal happening against the Giants last week.  The strength of their team lies in the secondary so the Eagles can be run on as we have seen this season.  Hunter thus could be a sneaky play for those who are hurting in the running back department.  I am talking to you Gore and Ryan Grant owners.  He likely wont blow it up Sunday but those in PPR leagues could get a boost for this week.  He just might do enough to keep you afloat for a bit.

RYAN STEELE'S NFL WEEK 4 PICKS AVAILABLE TOMORROW!

Fantasy Sports Boss professional handicapper Ryan Steele is back for Week 4 with another round of prime plays in his attempt to continue making money for his clients.  Steele is coming off a 4-1 Week 3 with a Game of the Month win on Tampa Bay which brought his season record to 11-4.  Use the BUY NOW tab to the right to get on board.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: 49ERS RB FRANK GORE STATUS STILL UP IN AIR FOR SUNDAY

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore is still uncertain over whether he will play or not this Sunday due to a sprained ankle.  Gore spoke after missing practice Thursday that he still feels pain and that he is up in the air about whether he can go at it.

Analysis:  Kendall Hunter would stand to benefit if Gore cant start and once again we are dealing with a Gore injury.  As good a player as he is, Gore continues to hurt his overall fantasy football value by missing a few games each season.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: CARDS RB BEANIE WELLS (HAMSTRING) REMAINS OUT OF PRACTICE THURSDAY

Arizona Cardinals RB Beanie Wells sat out practice again Thursday as he continues to rest his sore hamstring.  The hamstring cost Wells his Week 3 outing and the fact he continues to miss practices is causing concern for this week.

Analysis:  Wells is another guy who continues to let down his fantasy football owners due to his inability to stay on the field.  He was actually off to a nice start until the hamstring flared up so he has to do his best to get back on the field this week.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: COWBOYS WR DEZ BRYANT (QUAD) HELD OUT OF PRACTICE THURSDAY

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant apparently is not completely over the quad injury he suffered in Week 1 as he was held out of practice Thursday due to remaining soreness in the area.  Bryant will try to give it a go in the all-important practice tomorrow.

Analysis:  Here we go again.  As great a player as Bryant can look at times, he just cant shake the injury bug while derails his fantasy football value.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: CHARGERS RB RYAN MATTHEWS (FOOT) MISSED PRACTICE THURSDAY

San Diego Chargers RB Ryan Matthews was forced to sit out practice Thursday with an injured foot.  Matthews, who is off to a nice start this season, has had injury issues going back to college so this has the attention of both the team and fantasy football owners.  The team however remains confident he will play Sunday.

Analysis:  Just when Matthews was starting to earn back the respect he lost last season, Matthews is hurt again.  I think he will play but if he missed tomorrow's practice, I will change my thinking.

FANTASY FOOTBALL WEEK 4 START/SIT

Week 4 is already here so lets get right to the START/SIT debates in each game.

Detroit Lions VS. Dallas Cowboys:

Matthew Stafford: START HIM: Stafford just cant be stopped right now and the shaky Dallas secondary will be accommodating.

Jahvid Best: START IN PPR ONLY: Its the same story with Best. He is a major liability in standard leagues but decent enough for PPR. Nothing exciting here.

Calvin Johnson: START HIM: Worth the price of admission by himself.

Nate Burleson: START HIM: Has the look of a shootout and Burleson has taken advantage of the attention Johnson gets.

Brandon Pettigrew: START HIM: That 11-catch game last week is a testament to why I love him so much.

Defense: SIT THEM: They have been a force but their secondary is their weakness which makes this a bad matchup.

Jason Hanson: START HIM: Hanson owners are loving life right now. Another example of why you don't draft a kicker until the last round.

Tony Romo: START HIM: Romo is one damn gutsy QB playing through what he has. Detroit secondary not great.

Felix Jones: START HIM: Jones's shoulder is a concern but the performance on the field has been more than solid.

Dez Bryant: START HIM: Has the look of another Calvin Johnson.

Jason Witten: START HIM: Antonio Gates is hurt again. Yes that is why I said in the summer he should be the first TE picked.

Defense: SIT THEM: Not much has gone right on this side of the ball yet.

Pittsburgh Steelers VS. Houston Texans:

Ben Roethlisberger: START HIM: Man has he been terrible but the awful Houston defense could be just what he needs to get going.

Rashard Mendenhall: START HIM: I would have sat Mendenhall against even an adequate defense that's how bad the O-line play has been.

Hines Ward: START HIM: Ward should be started only in five WR leagues.

Mike Wallace: START HIM: Boy has he looked great all season. Upward and onward.

Heath Miller: SIT HIM: Nothing has changed here.

Defense: SIT THEM: They look old and a bit slower. Houston is a tough matchup.

Matt Schaub: START HIM: Yes start him against the Steeler defense. Schaub is in a major groove right now.

Andre Johnson: START HIM: Quietly one of the best receivers to ever play this game.

Kevin Walter: SIT HIM: Sorry no miracle catch this week.

Owen Daniels: START HIM: Daniels is looking more and more like the force he was a few seasons ago.
Defense: SIT THEM: No thank you.

Neil Rackers: START HIM: Try and trade for Rackers if you can. Look at those playoff matchups.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: GIANTS WR HAKEEM NICKS ADDED TO INJURY REPORT

New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks was added to the injury report on Thursday as he apparently has some swelling in his knee.  Nicks almost sat out Week 2 with the knee but he has played through the pain.

Analysis:  Something to monitor for sure as Nicks would be a big loss for his owners.  Dont be too alarmed yet as it could be a precautionary deal.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: CHARGERS TE ANTONIO GATES OUT FOR WEEK 4

San Diego Chargers TE Antonio Gates is OUT for Week 4 as he continues to deal with a foot issue.  Gates has already missed two games with the ailment and some reports have him missing more games as a result.

Analysis:  Gates once again is ruining his fantasy football owners' rosters with his foot injuries.  I suggested in the summer to stay away and this is why.

FANTASY FOOTBALL TREND OR MIRAGE: PHILLIP RIVERS' SLOW START

One of the first QB's taken this past summer in almost all fantasy football drafts was San Diego Chargers gunslinger Phillip Rivers.  Gunslinger was the perfect description for the guy as he was coming off back-to-back season of 4,254 yards and than 4,710 yards.  Rivers now completely owns the San Diego offense as the team moved away from the LaDainian Tomlinson era and so the pass has become the preferred mode of attack for the club.  With big time weapons like Vincent Jackson, Malcolm Floyd, and Antonio Gates entering the season, it was looking like Rivers would once again hit the 30-TD/4,000-yard mark.  Fast forward through three weeks of the season and no doubt those who wound up picking Rivers in their draft are feeling a bit letdown.  Through those three games, Rivers has a grand total of 4 TD's and an even more ugly 6 INT's.  The e-mails have come pouring in asking what is wrong with Rivers and whether or not his struggles will continue.  So in our latest Fantasy Football Trend or Mirage feature, lets dig into the slow Rivers start and determine what is likely to take place from this point forward.

Looking a bit into whats going on with Rivers, there are a few things that need to be discussed.  The chief among them is the fact that super tight end Antonio Gates has missed the last two games with a foot problem and it appears he could miss a whole lot more as the issue appears to be chronic in nature.  So many are theorizing that Rivers' struggles are due to his absence but I am not buying it.  Remember that Gates was limited and missed a batch of games last season as well with the foot and Rivers turned in his best season by far.  Also when you consider that Ryan Mathews was a complete bust in the running game last season, Rivers had even more pressure and less help to perform last season but he out up sick numbers regardless.  That tells you what a great passer he really is in that he can continue to put up big numbers despite losing some of his best weapons.  I didn't even mention the holdout that cost Rivers Vincent Jackson almost all of last season as well.  Yet the numbers were tremendous.  So don't think for a second that Rivers is going to see a drop in production with Gates out.  He has Jackson back and playing well and Malcolm Floyd is one of the better number 2 wideouts in the game.  So he has more than enough weapons to continue putting up the numbers.

Another aspect that needs to be looked at is the fact that Mathews has been a revelation so far this season as he is running with a burst and decisiveness that we didn't see all of last season.  The fact Mathews along with the solid Mike Tolbert has vastly improved the running game means that Rivers will have less pressure on him to make plays through the air and less congestion in defensive backfields.  Thus more passing lanes will open for Rivers to exploit as we continue on through the season.

Finally, the Chargers offensive line has not been great but they haven't been Pittsburgh bad either.  Rivers has had more than enough time to throw and so the protection is not the issue as well.  So what gives?  Its simple really.  Rivers just went through a mini-slump which EVERY player in fantasy football will go through at some point.  The Chargers have also been famous for getting off to slow starts, both offensively and defensively and than exploding down the stretch.  I fully expect that to be the case again this season as Rivers gets on a big time roll and the points, touchdowns, and yards pile up in a hurry.  In fact I would suggest you try to steal Rivers away from a nervous owner if you need QB help.  Buying low on a proven big time star like Rivers is the way to win in fantasy football and so do what you can to make it happen.  Ultimately Rivers will put up the star numbers by the end of the season like we all expected him to do.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: BROWNS COULD SPLIT CARRIES 50/50 BETWEEN HILLIS AND HARDESTY

It appears as though the nice work that Montario Hardesty did in place of the sick Peyton Hillis in Week 3 has earned him a bigger role in the offense.  Heach coach Pat Shurmur suggested on Wednesday that he wants to split carries between the two going forward.  Both guys can run and catch the ball so they also could split third down duties.

Analysis:  This is terrible news for Hillis owners as he would see a sharp drop in value if there was a split.  Hillis wore down badly last season and the club is determined to not allow that to occur again.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: RAMS WR DANNY AMENDOLA (ELBOW) WANTS TO PLAY SUNDAY

St. Louis Rams WR Danny Amendola is looking like he will play Sunday after sitting out the last two games with an elbow injury.  Amendola first hurt the elbow in Week 1 and at first it was thought he dislocated it and would be out for the season.  That turned out not to be the case and so he is looking to get back Sunday.

Analysis:  Good news for Amendola owners who thought he was going to be useless this season.  If you play in a PPR league and someone dropped him, go pick him up.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: SAINTS WR MARQUES COLSTON (COLLARBONE) EXPECTED BACK SUNDAY

New Orleans Saints WR Marques Colston took part in practice Wednesday and it appears as though he will return to the field this Sunday.  Colston was originally supposed to be out until Week with his broken collarbone but he has healed fast and the coaching staff will ease him back in.

Analysis:  Colston's return makes the receiving corp in fantasy football terms in chaos.  Robert Meachem and Devery Henderson did a great job in his absence but with Lance Moore and now Colston returning, there is only so many catches to go around.  My gut says Henderson loses the most out of this as Meachem will play on the outside with Colston as Moore goes to the slot.

FANTASY FOOTBALL BREAKING NEWS: PACKERS RB RYAN GRANT (BRUISED KIDNEY) LIKELY OUT SUNDAY

In some surprising news, one day after saying he wanted to give him more work, Green Bay PAckers head coach Mike McCarthy said on Wednesday that RB Ryan Grant is likely to sit out Sunday with a bruised kidney.  James Starks would start in his place.

Analysis:  Just when Grant started to get going we have this.  Starks becomes fantasy football useful again after looking like he was going to be out with Grant getting more carries.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: TEXANS RB ARIAN FOSTER (HAMSTRING) PRACTICES WEDNESDAY, WILL START SUNDAY

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster practiced fully on Wednesday and proclaimed himself ready to start Sunday.  Head coach Gary Kubiak confirmed this after the practice and said Foster will get "starter carries."

Analysis:  Its looking like the Ben Tate story will cease for awhile.  Foster hopefully has put his hamstring issues behind him and he has to start earning back the trust of his owners who have been looking to deal him already.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: EAGLES QB MICHAEL VICK (HAND) PROCLAIMS HIMSELF 100 PERCENT TO START

Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick pronounced himself 100 percent to start this weekend against the San Francisco 49ers.  Vick practiced Wednesday and claims that his hand gave him no problems.

Analysis:  Its nice to hear that Vick is feeling comfortable with the hand and Andy Reid has let Vick dictate whether he plays or not.  Consider him a go for Sunday.

2011 FANTASY FOOTBALL UPDATED TIGHT END RANKINGS: FIRST IN-SEASON LOOK

We are now up to the tight end position in our in-season look at the position.  Lets see how things currently stack up through three weeks of action.

1.  Jason Witten
2.  Rob Gronkowski
3.  Jermichael Finley
4.  Vernon Davis
5.  Brandon Pettigrew
6.  Tony Gonzalez
7.  Antonio Gates
8.  Dustin Keller
9.  Aaron Hernandez
10. Dallas Clark
11. Owen Daniels
12. Greg Olsen
13. Jimmy Graham
14. Kellen Winslow
15. Jermaine Gresham
16.  Fred Davis

-Injuries have knocked Antonio Gates all the way down as it looks like he could be out weeks with continued foot issues.  I warned all of you not to get involved with the guy.
-Jason Witten is a Hall of Famer already and not many realize how great he is.  Those in PPR especially know how awesome he is week in and week out.  The only frustration is that once again Tony Romo is not looking his way in the red zone.
-How about the start Rob Gronkowski has had?  He is downright ridiculous right now and props to Aaron Hernandez as well who was right with him before getting hurt.  The sky is the limit.
-Dallas Clark has seen his value destroyed with Peyton Manning not on the field.  The two had a tremendous rapport on the field and you just cant replicate with any other passer.
-Quietly Greg Olsen is doing some nice things in Carolina which was to be expected.  When the offensive coordinator is an ex-Hurricanes tight end, you know you are going to get some love.

That's how I see it.  Let me know what you think.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: GIANTS WR MARIO MANNINGHAM (CONCUSSION) CLEARED TO PRACTICE WEDNESDAY

New York Giants WR Mario Manningham has been cleared by the club to practice Wednesday as he passed all of the testing needed after suffering a concussion back in Week 2.  Manningham will move back into his starting role with Victor Cruz being the third wideout.

Analysis:  Good news for Manningham owners and he has a nice matchup this week against the Cardinals.  I would get him back out there.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: PACKERS RB RYAN GRANT TO GET MORE CARRIES

Green Bay Packers RB Ryan Grant will be getting more carries according to head coach Mike McCarthy on Tuesday.  After Grant ran for 92 impressive yards in last Sunday's win, McCarthy claimed that he wants Grant to be more of the workhorse runner.

Analysis:  After a slow start, Grant seems to be finding his rhythm off last season surgery.  This move of course would take a sledgehammer to the fantasy football value of James Starks who is close to cutting territory.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: COWBOYS RB FELIX JONES (SHOULDER) TO PRACTICE WEDNESDAY

Dallas Cowboys RB Felix Jones is going to try and practice Wednesday despite continuing to deal with shoulder pain from a separation that occured in Week 2.  It flared up during their Monday night win over the Redskins but he feels he will be ready to go Sunday.

Analysis:  Jones remains one of the more fragile running backs in fantasy football.  Still he is off to a nice start and is putting up solid numbers. If he gets on the practice field, he should be able to play.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: BENGALS RB CEDRIC BENSON (SUSPENSION) LIKELY TO PLAY SUNDAY

Cincinnati Bengals RB Cedric Benson is likely to start this Sunday versus the Buffalo Bills as it doesnt seem like his appeal to the three game suspension he was handed last week will a decision in time to affect the game.  Its likely he will have a game cut off the suspension which would than start next week.

Analysis:  Good news as Benson has a nice matchup against the Bills this week.  Still get ready to lose him for at least two weeks once that game is kaput.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: EAGLES QB MICHAEL VICK (HAND) TO PRACTICE, WR JEREMY MACKLIN (HAMSTRING) DOUBTFUL FOR SUNDAY

Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick will attempt to practice Wednesday despite dealing with a concussion and a hand contusion the last two weeks.  On a more sour note, WR Jeremy Macklin wont practice Wednesday and is doubtful to start this Sunday due to a hamstring strain.

Analysis:  Tough news on Macklin since its a good matchup against the 49ers but Vick apparently will be giving it a go.  Vick however remains a very risky start since he could come out at any moment if his hand acts up or something else goes on.  I would look for another option if you can.  Jason Avant would be a good replacement for Macklin is he is out.

FANTASY FOOTBALL UPDATED WR RANKINGS

Time to look at the updated fantasy football wide receiver rankings as this is our first in-season look at this group.  Here is how they stack up.

1.  Calvin Johnson
2.  Andre Johnson
3.  Roddy White
4.  Larry Fitzgerald
5.  Hakeem Nicks
6.  Steve Johnson
7.  Miles Austin
8.  Wes Welker
9.  Mike Wallace
10. Greg Jennings
11. Reggie Wayne
12. Vincent Jackson
13. Jeremy Macklin
14. Anquan Boldin
15. Brandon Marshall
16. Dwayne Bowe
17. Nate Washington
18. Dez Bryant
19. Santana Moss
20. Sidney Rice
21. AJ Green
22. David Nelson
23. Julio Jones
24. DeSean Jackson
25. Mike Williams (TB)
26. Santonio Holmes
27. Marques Colston
28. Percy Harvin
29. Deion Branch
30. Robert Meachem
31. Jordy Nelson
32. Jerome Simpson
33. Plaxico Burress
34. Mike Thomas
35. Devery Henderson

-Calvin Johnson has been unstoppable this season as he piles up the touchdowns.  The guy is an amazing athletic freak and has moved ahead of Andre Johnson and Roddy White since the season has begun.  The Matthew Stafford improvement surely helps without a doubt this season.
-Johnson and White are still doing their thing with great success so no issues there.  I also correctly predicted the comeback season of Miles Austin who has a tremendous rapport with QB Tony Romo.  Unfortunately he got hurt but he should be back in Week 6.
-Brandon Marshall and Dwayne Bowe are sliding down and that's due to the shoddy QB play in their offenses.  I said in the summer that Bowe would be a bust this season after saying he was a sleeper in 2010.  I would say I have a good feel for the guy.
-David Nelson has been the breakout star of this bunch so far this season.  Chan Gailey's passing heavy offense is perfectly suited to Nelson who plays the hot slot position.  Great value.
-Wes Welker is a guy I reach for every season since I play in a PPR league and his raw catches are just ridiculous.  The 16-catch gem in Week 3 underscore just how awesome he is.
-Mike Williams from Tampa Bay has been off to a slow start but I think he will be fine as we move along.  Hold the fort.
-AJ Green or Julio Jones?  Should be a fun debate for many year into the future.
-Reggie Wayne is keeping himself afloat despite the QB problems in Indy.  The same cant be said about Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie who you should release outright.

That's how I see it.  Let me know what you think.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: EAGLES QB MICHAEL VICK EXPECTED TO PLAY WEEK 4

Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick plans to start this Sunday against the San Francsico 49ers, despite suffering a hand contusion against the Giants which followed a consussion the week before.  Vick will try to practice at some point this week in order to be sure he can tolerate the pain when taking the snap.

Analysis:  Strange that the Eagles wont just give him a blow, especially against the 49ers who they should still be able to beat no matter who is at QB.  Vick is driving his fantasy football owners crazy once again with his aches and pains.  This is what you signed up for when you drafted him this past summer.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: TEXANS RB ARIAN FOSTER (HAMSTRING) TO START SUNDAY

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster is expected to return this Sunday and start for the team, relegating upstart Ben Tate to a backup position.  Head coach Gary Kubiak suggested Tuesday that Foster will get starter's carries, especially in the red zone where they have had some trouble.

Analysis:  Good to hear that Foster will be coming back but we went down this road in week 2 only to see him back on the bench with the hammy.  Tate has been solid in his place but not in hsort-yardage which hurt his overall value.  Hold onto Tate though in order to be sure Foster is all right.  The latter has a lot of work to do in order to earn back the respect of his fantasy football owners due to his slow start.

BE SURE TO PURCHASE RYAN STEELE'S NFL WEEK 4 PICK, 11-4 ON THE SEASON

Ryan Steele is back for NFL Week 4 and will have five big plays once again this week.  He is coming off a Game Of The Month win on Tampa Bay last week which helped make up a 4-1 day.  Season total now sits at 11-4.  Use the BUY now to the right to purchase the package that works for you.

FANTASY FOOTBALL TREND OR MIRAGE: RASHARD MENDENHALL'S LAGGING RUSHING TOTALS

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Rashard Mendenhall went on average toward the latter portion of round 1 in this past summer's fantasy football drafts and one could see why just why he was deserving of such an elevated slot.  For starters, Mendenhall was the rare workhorse back in a league full of committees for the most historically run-heavy offense in the NFL.  Secondly, Mendenhall was entering only his fourth season and seemingly was getting better every year.  Mendenhall put up a very impressive 1,273 yards along with a tremendous 13 scores.  He also tossed in between 20-25 receptions a season which didn't make him that much less valuable in PPR formats.  So now doubt the end of round 1 of drafts seemed to be the perfect spot to land this very solid fantasy football running back anchor.  Than the 2011 season began and three games later, we have a very big problem when it comes to Mendenhall.  Mendenhall's three game rushing totals?  How about 45, 66, and 37 rushing yards with a grand total of one score.  So in our latest Fantasy Football Trend or Mirage feature, we take a closer look at Mendenhall's struggles in order to determine what is going on and if his poor play will continue.

In looking closer at this issue, it became very clear to me that Rashard Mendenhall deserves very little blame in the running game's struggles.  The Steelers offensive line play has been absolutely atrocious in every sense of the word, from allowing QB Ben Roesthlisberger to get hit on seemingly every pass attempt, to the line opening very little holes and not keeping defensive lineman at bay for Mendenhall to run even adequately.  This lack of cohesion on the line is something that has been going on for years with this team but it mostly was centered on pass protection.  This season though it has devolved into the running game and there is no key reinforcements on the way to help improve things.  So unless the light suddenly goes on with this group, I don't see things getting much better for Mendenhall.  He will be very hard pressed to be able to have those big time running games that made him such an early draft pick in the first place.  Without good blocking, there is little hope for any running back to have a solid season, including Mendenhall.

All in all, I think Rashard Mendenhall owners are in for a long season.  The offensive line play has been that bad.  My best advice is to try and deal him the first solid game he has this season but you might be waiting awhile for that to take place.  I wont go out and call Mendenhall a bust at this point but I will say that this is looking like an ugly season all around.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: RAIDERS RB DARREN MCFADDEN (GROIN) IS "FINE"

Oakland Raiders head coach Hue Jackson claimed Monday that RB Darren McFadden is "fine" and will start Sunday's game for the club.  McFadden gave his owners some palpatations Sunday when he came out with what he termed a tight groin but he apparently came through it fine.

Analysis:  McFadden has been a monster so far this season and injuries are the only thing that can hold him back from an Arian Foster-like 2010 season.  A bullet was dodged.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: 49ERS RB FRANK GORE EXPECTED TO BE READY FOR WEEK 4

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore, who injured his ankle during Sunday's game, is expected to be ready to go Sunday according to head coach Jim Harbaugh.  Gore was a bit uncertain of his status after the game but he was walking around without a boot on Monday which is key.

Analysis:  Gore has been disappointing so far this season and always seems to have some injury concerns.  Still its good news that he should be all right so hold off on that Kendall Hunter pickup.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: TEXANS EXPECT RB ARIAN FOSTER (HAMSTRING) TO BE BACK SUNDAY

Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak went on record Monday saying that he fully expected RB Arian Foster to be active and play for the team's Week 4 contest.  Foster was out for Week 3 with continued hamstring issues that go back to training camp and Ben Tate has been tremendous in his place.

Analysis:  It will be interesting to see how Kubiak plays the reps with Foster and the impressive Tate.  Foster deserves to be the man based on his awesome 2010 but Tate has served notice that he needs to be played.  If Foster does lose carries, his already diminishing fantasy football value will seep even lower than it is.

FANTASY FOOTBALL WEEK 3 RUNNING BACK WRAPUP

Week 3 has come and gone and so lets check in on how all of the relevant fantasy football running backs performed throughout the games.

Cedric Benson:  17 carries for 64 yards.  Benson will be suspended for three games likely starting next week so start to get to know Bernard Scott who has some good matchups coming up.

Frank Gore:  17 carries for 42 yards with 1 fumble.  Gore has not had a solid game yet and now he has an ankle problem.  Not what his owners were expecting that's for sure.

Maurice Jones-Drew:  24 carries for 122 yards along with 3 catches for 45 yards.  Its very impressive that Jones-Drew is running this well with the 8 man fronts he faces every week.  So far no concerns about his knee.

Adrian Peterson:  17 carries for 78 yards and 1 TD along with 4 catches for 19 yards.  The TD saved the day for a quieter day than usual for this horse.

Jahvid Best:  12 carries for 14 yards along with 5 catches for 74 yards.  Best just cant run the ball so far this season and the catches make him strictly a PPR option and not a great one at that.

Chris Johnson:  13 carries for 21 yards along with 4 catches for 54 yards.  Johnson has been disgusting this season.  I said it all summer throughout his holdout that he would be extremely rusty to start the season and boy has he lived up to that prediction.  He will come around but its taking longer than most believed.

Willis McGahee:  22 carries for 52 yards along with 3 catches for 2 yards.  Not a good game for McGahee who will go back to splitting carries with Knowshon Moreno next week.  That makes him fantasy football useless.

Daniel Thomas:  23 carries for 95 yards along with 3 catches for 27 yards and 1 TD.  Thomas has become the workhorse back for the Dolphins and he is clearly the man.  Lets hope you didn't drop him after Week 1 because he is really looking like a player.

LeSean McCoy:  24 carries for 128 yards and 1 TD along with 3 catches for 13 yards.  McCoy is getting workhorse carries which is great to see and  he is cashing in on the scoring chances as well.  Basically there is nothing to complain about.

Ahmad Bradshaw:  15 carries for 86 yards along with 5 catches for 53 yards and 1 TD.  This is the first impact game that Bradshaw has had this season so he is off to somewhat of a slow start.  Brandon Jacobs will continue to get goal-line carries so Bradshaw is best used in those that take part in PPR.

Ben Tate:  19 carries for 82 yards along with 1 catch for 8 yards.  It had to be disappointing to see that Tate didn't get in on all of the scoring in this game.  He still ran very well and is reminding many why he was a hot pickup last summer.

Mark Ingram:  9 carries for 38 yards and 1 TD along with 2 catches for -3 yards.  Ingram is still a bigger name than he is a player and that will continue with Darren Sproles and Pierre Thomas around.

Fred Jackson:  12 carries for 74 yards and 1 TD along with 5 catches for 87 yards.  Jackson is playing like a first round pick and at the very least he is the best fantasy football value this season to this point.

Ray Rice:  8 carries for 79 yards along with 5 catches for 83 yards.  Rice continues to be a beast every week and he did enough positive things in a gameplan that centered on the pass.  That my friends is a superstar.

Darren McFadden:  19 carries for 171 yards and 2 TD along with 3 catches for 7 yards.  If the fantasy football draft guides came out today, McFadden would be on every cover.  Man is he destroying everything in his path right now.  And to think he could be had in the second round in drafts this past summer.

Shonn Greene:  15 carries for 59 yards along with 7 catches for 7 catches for 47 yards.  Greene once again didn't make an impact running but he was a total shock in the receiving game.  If this keeps up, I will criticize him a lot less.

Ryan Matthews:  21 carries for 98 yards and 2 TD along with 5 catches for 51 yards.  This is the production that those who reached for Matthews in round 1 last season expected.  He has been very good this season but I will reserve judgement until I see more.

Ryan Grant:  17 carries for 92 yards.  Grant was the feature back this week as James Starks took a seat.  This situation can change every week so it makes neither guy worth owning.

Matt Forte:  9 carries for 2 yards along with 7 catches for 80 yards.  No that rushing total was not a misprint.  Forte got nothing going in that respect but he once again was a beast in the receiving game.  The joy of PPR leagues.

Michael Turner:  11 carries for 20 yards.  This is the problem you get with Turner sometimes in that if he is stuffed in the run game like this, his day is a washout for his owners.  He just doesn't do anything in the receiving game for him to help in any other category.

LeGarrette Blount:  24 carries for 81 yards along with 1 catch for 13 yards.  Same story with Blount who also wont be much help in the receiving department.

Rashard Mendenhall:  18 carries for 37 yards along with 3 catches for 9 yards.  You know its bad when you get bottled up by the Colts.  I cant say it will get any better for Mendenhall whose line is atrocious.

Joseph Addai:  17 carries for 86 yards and 1 TD along with 1 catch for 2 yards.  Solid game for Addai who has had a hard time of doing that the last few seasons.  It will still be a rough go for him this season due to the stacked lines he will be facing each week.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: EAGLES HEAD COACH ANDY REID SAYS QB MICHAEL VICK'S HAND NOT BROKEN

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid said on Monday that QB Michael Vick does not have a broken hand and that it is just a contusion.  Reid said that Vick could possibly play this week if he can handle the discomfort.  This was in response to an earlier ESPN report that said Vick would be out 3-4 weeks.

Analysis:  It getting to the point of ridiculousness with this while Vick health thing.  Reid has to do whats right with Vick who had suffered a concussion and now the hand injury in successive weeks and sit him down.  Mike Kafka or Vince Young will start in his place if he cant go this week.

2011 FANTASY BASEBALL SEASON WRAPUP COMING SOON

The 2011 fantasy baseball season is almost in the books and I hope I helped you along the way to a championship.  Once the season is officially in the books, I will be posting the wrapups such as the All Fantasy Team, the All Bust Team, The All Value Team etc.  Than the work begins on the 2012 Fantasy Baseball Draft Guide which will be ready to go at the end of October.  Be sure to use the BUY NOW tabe above to purchase the guide for an early bird price of $5.00 (will be regularly priced at $8.00 when completed).  It will updated throughout the offseason as trades and free agent signings take place.  So be sure to get aboard.  Draft guide will follow same format as last season with position by position rankings and captions on each player, plus busts, sleepers, top rookies, and the all-important injury risk pitchers.  I look forward to helping you prepare for yet another season of fantasy baseball.

FANTASY FOOTBALL PLAYER ANALYZER: TORREY SMITH WR BALTIMORE RAVENS

The collective response when perusing the Baltimore Ravens scoring summary Sunday was "Who?" when one looked at the not one, not two , but THREE touchdowns scored by rookie receiver Torrey Smith in the team's demolition against the St. Louis Rams.  All in all Smith caught five passes for those three scores and 152 yards.  Those were the first catches that Smith has had through three games of his initial NFL campaign and no doubt many in the fantasy football community want to know more about him.  So lets get right to it with another edition of the Player Analyzer.

For starters, Torrey Smith was a second round draft pick of the team before this season out of Maryland where he made his reputation as a big play threat in the ACC.  Smith is blessed with tremendous speed so getting down the field to haul in long passes became his forte.  The Ravens used that talent to convince themselves to draft him as they desperately needed a deep threat opposite Anquan Boldin.  So after hardly playing the first two games of the season, and coming off a listless loss to the Titans, the Ravens decided to see what they had with Smith on Sunday and the results were huge.  Smith continually used his speed to get behind the Rams defense and made the big plays.  So its obvious that the Ravens will continue to try this alignment since it worked out so well on Sunday.

No doubt this was a tremendous game for Smith to announce his arrival to fantasy football but keep in mind he was going against a decimated Rams defense who are one of the worst in the league as far as their secondary is concerned.  Also Boldin will continue to be the main target of Joe Flacco when he is not looking at Ed Dickson or Ray Rice.  In other words there is a lot of competition for passes on a team that likes to run the ball more than pass.  The raw number of catches wont make him an asset in PPR leagues but those in standard formats could take a shot here and see where it leads to the rest of the season.  It could be just a big game using the element of surprise since D coordinators have no video on him.  Or it could be the start of a solid rookie season.  Just keep expectations in check and you wont get hurt.

FANTASY FOOTBALL WEEK 3 INFIRMARY REPORT: KENNY BRITT LIKELY FINISHED FOR 2011

Another week and yet ANOTHER big injury in fantasy football.  This time it was Kenny Britt who is likely done for the season with a torn ACL and MCL.  Michael Vick got hurt again as well which complicates the always shallow QB situation.  Lets get right to all of the injuries and their consequences in fantasy football Week 3.

1.  Kenny Britt (torn ACL and MCL, out for season):  It hasn't been confirmed yet but the news is that Britt suffered both a torn ACL and MCL in his knee.  He was carted off the field after hurting it in the second quarter and one only has to see it to know it was bad.  Britt was off the arguably the best start of any receiver in fantasy football, eating up yards and touchdowns along the way, so he will big a major hole that needs to be plugged.  A good place to start is with his teammates Nate Washigton who scored a TD Sunday.  Other names to look at would be Julio Jones (if anyone in your league got impatient and let him go), Nate Burleson, or Torrey Smith.

2.  Michael Vick (broken non-throwing hand, out Week 4 and maybe longer):  Another week and another injury for Vick who a week after suffering a concussion, wound up breaking his non-throwing hand after a sack.  Team sources already said he will be out next week and it could be longer depending on whether he needs surgery.  Just another chapter in the frustrating injury history for Vick who despite all of his talent, just cant stay healthy.  Check out Matt Hasselbeck or Rex Grossman is you own Vick.

3.  Darren McFadden (groin, believed to be minor):********THE REST OF THIS FEATURE IS FOR INSIDER SUBSCRIBERS ONLY.  USE THE BUY NOW TAB ABOVE TO PURCHASE YOUR SEASON ACCESS PASS TO ALL THE INSIDER FEATURES FOR ONLY $25.00.******

FANTASY FOOTBALL QB WRAPUP: VICK HURT AGAIN

Michael Vick gets hurt, Tom Brady looks mortal, and Matthew Stafford continues to bring it.  Lets see how all of the relevant QB's in fantasy football did in Week 3.

Cam Newton:  158 yards with 1 TD.  It was a miserable rainy slopfest in Jacksonville so you can excuse this outing.  Give him credit for not turning it over.  Newton is still in the circle of trust.

Matthew Stafford:  378 yards with 2 TD's.  Stafford continues to bring it every week and he was nearly flawless in this game as he led the team to an OT victory.  There is nothing bad to say about the kid at this point.  What a value he is shaping up to be.

Matt Hasselbeck:  311 yards with 2 TD.  Hasselbeck is playing great right now and you now have the green light to use him as long as the matchuup is all right.  He is aging well.

Kyle Orton:  178 yards with 2 TD and 2 INT.  Orton looks nothing like the guy who went wild in the first half last season.  Use only as a bye week fill-in.

Eli Manning:  254 yards with 4 TD.  Manning was money in this game but his receivers took two short passes to the house.  In other words the stats look better than what was really going on.  Still Manning is making the best of a tough situation with the decimated Giants receiving corp but I still worry overall.

Michael Vick:  176 yards with 1 INT.  Vick looks nothing like the gem he was last season and he has a bruise on every part of his body.  Now he has a broken hand to go with last week's concussion.  He is already being told he wont play in Week 4 and could be out longer.  Last season seems so long ago.

Matt Schaub:  373 yards with 3 TD and 1 INT.  Schaub was fantastic today but came up short in a shootout.  Who cares.....he threw for three scores.

Drew Brees:  370 yards with 3 TD and 2 INT.  Brees continues to throw too many picks but you cant argue with the bottom line.  As good as it gets.

Tom Brady:  387 yards with 4 TD and 4 INT.  Brady threw the same number of picks in this game that he did all of last season.  The 4 TD's helped minimize the damage though but its still weird to see that last number.

Ryan Fitzpatrick:  369 yards with 2 TD and 2 INT.  The fact that Fitzpatrick won a duel with Brady speaks volumes about how far he has come.  He is running Chan Gailey's offense to perfection.  Is now an every week starter.

Joe Flacco:  389 yards with 3 TD.  Flacco was locked in today and has found a new toy in Torrey Smith.  He has always been right on the edge of fantasy football relevancy but not anymore.

Sam Bradford:  166 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT.  Bradford is going through some growing pains right now.  You cant start him but I still think he will be very good.  It doesnt happen overnight.

Mark Sanchez:  369 yards with 2 TD and 1 INT.  Sanchez continues to play well enough to be considered starting material.  The growth has been there and all he has to do is limit the turnovers at this point.

Phillip Rivers:  266 yards with 2 INT.  It was a terrible day for Rivers and the absence of Antonio Gates was huge.  If Gates were to miss more time, its safe to say you got to downgrade Rivers some.

Aaron Rodgers:  297 yards with 3 TD and 1 INT.  The only noteworthy thing here is that he thew a pick.  What a fantastic player.

Jay Cutler:  302 yards with 2 TD and 2 INT.  Cutler got nailed over a dozen times in this game and its hard to recommend him when his protection is that bad.

Kevin Kolb:  252 yards with 1 TD and 2 INT.  It was an ugly peformance for everyone in a Cards uniform which includes Kolb.  Dont give up on him yet.  He is on the upswing.

Matt Ryan:  330 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT.  Ryan went to the hurry-up late and that netted a bunch of yards.  Otherwise it was a quiet night for Ryan off a 4-TD game.

Josh Freeman:  180 yards with 1 INT.  Its obvious that Freeman has taken a step back this season and so I would advise benching him until he snaps out of it.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: RAIDERS RB DARREN MCAFADDEN HURT GROIN LATE ON SUNDAY

Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden suffered an apparent groin injury late in the team's win over the New York Jets but he claimed after the game it just got tight and that he was fine.

Analysis:  Its always nice to hear the player say he is fine but lets see what the medical staff says before we ignore this.  McFadden was a monster again on Sunday racking up 178 total yards and 2 more TD's.  He is easily the fantasy football MVP through three weeks, especially after Tom Brady threw 4 picks today.  McFadden has injury issues in his past so check back tomorrow.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: EAGLES QB MICHAEL VICK LIKELY OUT WEEK 4

Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick is "questionable at best" according to a team source for Week 4 after suffering a broken non-throwing hand against the New York Giants.  Vick tried to play through it but the pain was too severe.  He will be re-evaluated tomorrow.

Analysis:  The key here is whether or not Vick will need a pin for the break.  If he does than he will be out weeks.  If not he could sit for Week 4 and than take another look at it.  Same old story with Vick which is why I told you all to stay clear of him this season.

FANTASY SPORTS BOSS NFL HANDICAPPER RYAN STEELE GOES 4-1 WITH HIS PLAYS FOR THE WEEK, GAME OF THE MONTH WIN ON TAMPA BAY

RYAN STEELE GOES 4-1 WITH HIS FIRST BATCH OF PRIME PLAYS AS A CONTRIBUTOR TO THE FANTASY SPORTS BOSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GAME OF THE MONTH WIN ON TAMPA BAY. BE SURE TO GET ON BOARD NEXT WEEK TO JOIN IN ON THE WINNING!!!!!!!
So Week 3 is in the books as far as my Prime Plays Of The Week are concerned. I have now has three winning weeks out of three as we are killing it right now. Week 3 brought a 4-1 record to improve my season tally to 11-4. Yup thats a whole lot of winning and so what are you waiting for???? Get on board for Week 4 and join in on the fun.
As far as Week 3's picks were concerned, I correctly layed the -4 points in the Saints/Texans games. It didnt look good early on but the Saints offense just couldnt be stopped which what did it for me when picking this game. I also nailed an absolute gimme with the Ravens laying 4 to the Rams. This line was a major mistake by the oddsmakers and so I pounced which is a key way to ensure winning selections. Anytime the oddsmakers make a blatant mistake with a line like they did here (the line should have been at least -6.5), than you have to immediately jump on it.
Moving right along, as I said earlier, we nailed out Pick of the Month with Tampa Bay giving 1.5 to an overrated Atlanta team. I also jumped on the UNDER 46 which was way overinflated for these two offenses. The only blemish was laying the 14.5 with the Chargers as that game had no business being that close but thats San Diego for you. We will take the winning week however and add it to the bankroll. Again if you havent gotten aboard I would strongly suggest you do. We are locked in right now and the good times keep on rolling. Good luck.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: 49ERS RB FRANK GORE SUFFERED ANKLE INJURY SUNDAY

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore had to leave Sunday's win over the Bengals early after suffering an ankle injury.  Gore was replaced by Kendall Hunter who did some nice things in his stead.

Analysis:  This is not a major concern as Gore was seen laughing on the sidelines later in the fourth quarter.  Gore is no stranger to injuries though so stay on top of it.  The bigger concern is the slow start Gore has had this season.

FANTASY FOOTBALL BREAKING NEWS: TITANS WR KENNY BRITT LIKELY TORE BOTH ACL AND MCL, LIKELY OUT FOR SEASON

In yet another huge injury to hit the fantasy football world, Tennessee Titans WR Kenny Britt likely tore both the ACL and MCL in his knee during Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos.  Britt was carted off the field and was in a quite a bit of pain.  The diagnosis will likely be confirmed sometime tomorrow.

Analysis:  This looked like a bad injury and so I am not surprised.  This is a devastating injury for his fantasy football owners as he is likely finished for the season.  That kind of production just cant be replaced.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: TITANS WR KENNY BRITT HAS INJURED MCL, EXTENT OF DAMAGE TO BE REVEALED MONDAY

Tennessee Titans WR Kenny Britt sustained some damage to his MCL during Sunday's game versus the Denver Broncos.  Britt left the game on the cart in the second quarter and more tests will be conducted tomorrow.

Analysis:  This is sounding worse and worse.  Anything to do with the MCL is a big deal and its likely Britt will be for at least for a few weeks.  Cross your fingers its nothing season ending Britt owners.

FANTASY FOOTBALL BREAKING NEWS: EAGLES QB MICHAEL VICK HAS BROKEN NON-THROWING HAND

Updating an earlier item, Eagles QB Michael Vick was found to have suffered a broken right hand during Sunday's game against the New York Giants.  Vick broke the hand when getting hit during the third quarter and played the next series to see if he could handle it.  He than came out of the game for good as he was replaced by Mike Kafka who threw a pick on his first pass.

Analysis:  Not good at all.  The fact Vick couldnt handle the pain of playing with it means he could be out for a game or so.  This is what you signed up for when you drafted Vick.  As talented as he is, he just cant stay healthy during the season.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: EAGLES QB MICHAEL VICK (HAND) EXITS EARLY

Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick was forced out of Sunday's game versus the New York Giants with a hand injury.  Vick hurt the hand during a third quarter sack, returned for one series where he handed off only, and than exited for Mike Kafka.  This on the heels of suffering a concussion last week that had his status up in the air leaduing up to today's contest.

Analysis:  Here we go again with Vick.  The guy always is dealing with aches and pains and now we have to worry about his hand.  Stay tuned.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: RAMS RB STEVEN JACKSON (QUAD) ACTIVE SUNDAY

St. Louis Rams RB Steven Jackson is ACTIVE for Sunday's game versus the Baltimore Ravens.  Jackson has missed the last game and a half with the strained quad but he is good to go for today.

Analysis:  Good news that Jackson is back in the lineup but he has a rough matchup against the Ravens today.  Leave him on the bench.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: CARDS RB BEANIE WELLS (HAMSTRING) OUT SUNDAY

Arizona Cardinals RB Beanie Wells is OUT for Sunday's game due to a hamstring strain.

Analysis:  It was about 50/50 for Wells to play after he hurt the hamstring in practice this week.  Once again Wells is letting his owners down as he has done since coming into the league.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: TITANS WR KENNY BRITT CARTED OFF WITH KNEE INJURY

Tennessee Titans WR Kenny Britt has suffered an apparent knee injury and was carted off the field during Sunday's game versus the Denver Broncos.  Britt hurt the knee at the end of the second quarter and will immediately go for tests on it.

Analysis:  Terrible news.  Britt has arguably been the most dominant fantasy football wide receiver this season and any absence from him would be significant.  Stay tuned.,

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: BROWNS RB PEYTON HILLIS (ILLNESS) IS OUT SUNDAY, MONTARIO HARDESTY TO START

Cleveland Browns RB Peyton Hillis is OUT for Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins and he will be replaced by Montario Hardesty in the lineup.

Analysis:  Unreal.  Shocking that an illness is keeping Hillis out.  Hardesty gets his chance to show why the Browns made him a high draft pick before last season.  He has a good matchup agianst the Dolphins so if you are desperate take a chance.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: BRONCOS RB WILLIS MCGAHEE TO BE WORKHORSE SUNDAY

Denver Broncos RB Willis McGahee will serve as the workhorse running back for the team this week against the Tennessee Titans.  McGahee ran for over 100 yards on 28 carries last week and he figures to get a ton of work again this week as Knowshon Moreno sits out yet again with hamstring trouble like he has last season.

Analysis:  McGahee has a proven track record and so I wouldnt object to using him as a fantasy football RB 2 today.  Once Moreno gets back though, he drops back to RB 3 status.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: BENGALS WR JEROME SIMPLSON (PERSONAL) WILL PLAY SUNDAY

Cincinnati Bengals WR Jerome Simpson will be active and start Sunday, despite being busted with a delivery of 8.5 pounds of marajuana to his home.  Simpson missed practice this week while dealing with the issue but he is fully in the team's plans for this week.

Analysis:  No surprise since its the Bengals we are talking about who are the most lawless franchise in the NFL.  He has been a decent fantasy football receiver so far this season but his production will likely swing wildly due to a rookie QB and solid receiving complements such as AJ Green and Jermaine Gresham.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: TEXANS RB ARIAN FOSTER (HAMSTRNG) OUT SUNDAY

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster is OUT for Sunday versus the New Orleans Saints due to continuing hamstring issues.  Ben Tate will start in his place.

Analysis:  We knew this already so no surprise with this.  Tate is an excellent play this week against a soft Saints defense.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: CARDS RB BEANIE WELLS (HAMSTRING) WILL BE A GAME-TIME DECISION SUNDAY

Arizona Cardinals RB Beanie Wells will be a game-time decisions due to a balky hamstring that he first hurt in practice this week.  Head coach Ken Whisenhunt is known for deactivating players who dont practice and so its likely he will sit.

Analysis:  Wells has been an emigma since coming into the league and so I wouldnt doubt he will let down the few owners who are still waiting on his potential.  Be sure you have a backup plan.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: BROWNS RB PEYTON HILLIS (ILLNESS) CONFIDENT HE WILL PLAY SUNDAY

Cleveland Browns RB Peyton Hillis vows that he will play on Sunday after missing practice this week with an illness.

Analysis:  I fully expect Hillis to be out there as its the rare NFL player who will risk the ribbing in the locker room by missing a game with a sickness.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: COWBOYS QB TONY ROMO (RIBS) QUESTIONABLE FOR MONDAY

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo has been listed as questionable for Monday night's game versus the Washington Redskins as he continues to deal with the bruised ribs he first suffered in last week's contest.  Jon Kitna would go in his place.

Analysis:  I think Romo will play but he will be feeling the ribs and he will not have Miles Austin and a hobbled Dez Bryant and Felix Jones.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: CHARGERS TE ANTONIO GATES (FOOT) WILL BE OUT SUNDAY

Here we go again with San Diego Chargers TE Antonio Gates having foot issues as it was confirmed he will OUT Sunday versus the Kansas City Chiefs.  Gates has dealt with foot issues for years and a team doctor said he will have to deal with it the entire season.

Analysis:  This is bad news for Gates and his owners as he looks like he will be hobbled all season.  Some replacments to consider are Jermaine Gresham, Greg Olsen, or Brent Celek.

2011 FANTASY FOOTBALL UPDATED RUNNING BACK RANKINGS

Time for our first in-season look at the updated fantasy football running backs.  As always this position is always changing due to injuries and such.  Mauricg different this season as well so lets see where they all currently sit.

1.  Adrian Peterson
2.  Ray Rice
3.  Darren McFadden
4.  Chris Johnson
5.  LeSean McCoy
6.  Michael Turner
7.  Matt Forte
8.  Maurice Jones-Drew
9.  Arian Foster
10. Fred Jackson
11. Peyton Hillis
12. Frank Gore
13. Ahmad Bradshaw
14. Rashard Mendenhall
15. LeGarrette Blount
16. Felix Jones
17. James Starks
18. Daniel Thomas
19. Beanie Wells
20. Mark Ingram

-Injuries and ineffectiveness have ravaged the top of the rankings.  Arian Foster has been a bust due to his bum hammy and Chris Johnson has been invisible due to his long holdout costing him practice time.  Old reliable Adrian Peterson thus deserves the top spot and a very hot Ray Rice is a close second.
-Darren McFadden has been unbelievable and he basically has been a contributor across the board.  Just stay on the field bro.
-How about the start Matt Forte has had?  He is playing the Marshall Faulk role in the Mike Martz offense which almost guarantees top level production.  A gem in PPR leagues at the very least.
-Daniel Thomas and Roy Helu need to be watched for big showings going forward.  They seem to be nudging the veterans Reggie Bush and Tim Hightower to the side and thus the ceiling is very high for these two guys.
-Frank Gore and Maurice Jones-Drew are two vets off to quiet starts.  Thats what happens when you O-line stinks and you face 8-man fronts due to horrible QB play.  Lets hope it gets better  for these two.

Thats how I see things at this point in the season.  Lets hear what you think about this.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: COWBOYS QB TONY ROMO (LUNG, RIB) MISSES PRACTICE FRIDAY

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo sat out practice again on Friday as he continues to rest his fractured rib and punctured lung.  The lung has almost healed already based on a scan of the area performed Thursday.  He still has not gotten back on the field though but the team has an extra day off since they play on Monday.

Analysis:  Romo hopefully will practice Saturday and if he does, consider him a safe bet to play.  If you are a Romo owner like I am, its tough waiting on him since he goes Monday but I would pick up Rex Grossman just in case so that if Romo sits, you have a ready made replacement.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: BROWNS RB PEYTON HILLIS (ILLNESS) QUESTIONABLE FOR SUNDAY

Cleveland Browns RB Peyton Hillis has been listed as questionable due to an illness.  Hillis missed practice Friday with the ailment and being questionable means a player is 50/50 to play.

Analysis:  I find it hard to believe that Hillis will sit out due to being sick.  This is a bunch of nothing.

FANTASY FOOTBALL WEEK 3 START/SIT

Week 3 is here so lets get right to it.  As always every game analyzed in order to make it easier for you to decide who to put out there this week and who to bench outright.

Philadelphia Eagles VS. New York Giants

Michael Vick: SIT HIM: Vick is a risky play this week since he might not even play due to the slight concussion he suffered last week. The team is planing to have him in there but the ferocious Giants pass rush could knock him out quickly in that game.

LeSean McCoy: START HIM: McCoy has always given the Giants fits. Their run defense is also shaky.

Jeremy Macklin: START HIM: I told you all to get him back out there off his lackluster Week 1 game and he broke out in a major way. He will stay on track.

DeSean Jackson: START HIM: We all know that Jackson has killed the Giants and he will likely have the chance to do it again.

Brent Celek: SIT HIM: Celek was all right last week but the tight end is just not highlighted enough in this offense.

Defense: START THEM: Eli Manning is one of the most INT-prone QB's in the league and this is a scary matchup with the Philly ballhawk secondary.

Alex Henery: START HIM: Could be a lot of field goals in this game as the offenses have tended to bog down in the past in this series.

Eli Manning: SIT HIM: Scan above and look at what I said for the Philly defense.

Hakeem Nicks: START HIM: Nicks is one of those rare WR's you have to start every game no matter who the opposition.

Mario Manningham: SIT HIM: Might be out with a concussion and even if he plays he will have to look at that awesome Philly defensive backfield.

Ahmad Bradshaw: SIT HIM: Has had some awful games against the Eagles in the past.

Defense: SIT THEM: Eagles have won the battle at the line of scrimmage which has allowed the defense to get attacked.

New York Jets VS. Oakland Raiders

Mark Sanchez: START HIM: Sanchez has been up and down but the Raiders secondary can be thrown on as Ryan Fitzpatrick showed last week.

Shonn Greene: SIT HIM: The Jets just lost Pro Bowl center Nick Mangold. A bad running game will get worse.

Defense: START THEM: Jason Campbell is not even a top 20 QB. They stand as good a chance as anyone of stopping Darren McFadden.

Dustin Keller: START HIM: He is close to every week starting status as he and Mark Sanchez continue to build their chemistry.

Santonio Holmes: START HIM: Due for a huge game.

Nick Folk: START HIM: Has been money through the first two weeks and getting lots of points.

Jason Campbell: SIT HIM: Still has not graduated to fantasy football worthiness.

Darren McFadden: START HIM: The best running back in football right now.

Demarius Moore: SIT HIM: Likely will draw Darrell Revis.

Kevin Boss: SIT HIM: Nothing doing here with this guy to this point.

Defense: SIT THEM: Still licking their wounds from last week.

Sebastian Janikowski: START HIM: Getting better with age.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: GIANTS WR MARIO MANNINGHAM (HEAD) UNLIKELY TO PLAY SUNDAY

New York Giants WR Mario Manningham missed practice on Friday with continuing concussion problems and he is likely to sit out Sunday's game.

Analysis:  Not good.  Manningham is going to sit and this is bad news for QB Eli Manning.  If you are a Manning owner, look for another option.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: COWBOYS WR DEZ BRYANT (QUAD) AND RB FELIX JONES (SHOULDER) PRACTICE FRIDAY

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant and RB Felix Jones returned to practice on Friday and both are expected to play in Monday's game versus the Washington Redskins.  Bryant missed Week 2 with a sore quad while Jones hurt his shoulder during that week's game versus the San Francisco 49ers.  Jones returned to finish the contest.

Analysis:  Its looking like both Bryant and Jones are going to play which is good news.  Bryant is a difference-maker and has a nice matchup with Washington on Monday.  Jones is still looking to make it big but injuries continue to dog his performance every season.

FANTASY FOOTBALL PLAYER ANALYZER: ERIC DECKER WR DENVER BRONCOS

One of the more surprising performances in this young fantasy football season took place in Week 2 when previously unknown Denver Broncos WR Eric Decker snagged 5 catches along with 2 touchdowns in their victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.  Surely many in the fantasy football community looked his name up on their free agent wire after that outing and the questions have started coming in about whether or not he is worth an add or if he is just a flash in the pan.  All legitimate questions for sure and so in our latest Fantasy Football Player Analyzer column, lets dig in a bit deeper and determine if in fact he is worth picking up and what numbers he could possibly supply the rest of the season.

As far as some background on Decker, he is in his second season after being a third round pick by the Broncos out of Minnesota where he made his name as a big time slot receiver in their offense. After hardly playing as a rookie, Decker started the season being utilized out of the slot once again.  Than Eddie Royal came down with a groin strain which elevated Decker more and thus put him in a position to become a prime target in the passing game.  He responded in a major way against the Bengals and he has clearly earned the trust of the Broncos coaching staff who have nothing but nice things to say about the guy.   So the opportunities should still be there for Decker even when Royal does come back as he has taken hold of playing much more than the other receivers on the roster.

Looking at Decker's game itself, as I said earlier he is a prime slot receiver who will play the always exciting Wes Welker role as far as fantasy football is concerned.  The Broncos have shown no hesitation to throw the football, even with running fan John Fox as the coach.  We are not talking about superstar digits by any means but Decker has a chance to clear the 50-catch mark and likely more if he stays healthy.  Yes Brandon Lloyd and Eddie Royal would be the first two targets of QB Kyle Orton but in today's NFL, there is more than enough room for three receivers to get useful numbers.

All in all, I think Eric Decker is a guy you can pick up in order to see where this goes.  Use him for now if Eddie Royal sits out Sunday as is likely and than re-analyze this afterwards.  He wont be a difference-maker by any means but Decker has shown the potential to at least be someone to keep an eye on .

FANTASY FOOTBALL BREAKING NEWS: BENGALS RB CEDRIC BENSON TO BE SUSPENDED 3 GAMES

Cincinatti Bengals RB Cedric Benson has been notified that he will be suspended for three games starting immediately due to his off-the-field troubles during the lockout.  Benson has been classified as a repeat offender and so the suspension was ordered by commissioner Roger Goodell.  He has appealed the suspension and will thus play Sunday.

Analysis:  Bad news for Benson owners.  He was actually off to a nice start this season but its looking like he will sit for a bit.  The hearing will be held next week and whatever the result is, Benson will have to serve the suspension immediately thereafter.

FANTASY FOOTBALL BREAKING NEWS: CHARGERS TE ANTONIO GATES FOOT) COULD SIT OUT SUNDAY, INJURY COULD LINGER ALL SEASON

San Diego Chargers TE Antonio Gates is once again having foot problems only two weeks into the season as he was forced to sit out Wednesday's practice with pain in the area.  According to a source close to the team, its bad enough that Gates could sit out Sunday and in addition to the likeliehood of having to deal with it the rest of the season.  Observers have noticed that Gates has seemingly lost a step due to his constant foot injuries which is further cause for concern.

Analysis:  This is terrible news as once again its looking like Gates will be an injury list staple every week of the season.  Gates is aging and he has seemed a step slow this season as his foot issues continue to be present.  Those who are owners have to be very worried about this once again.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: RAMS RB STEVEN JACKSON (QUAD) DOUBTFUL FOR WEEK 3

St. Louis Rams RB Steven Jackson has already been listed as doubtful for Week 3 as he continues to have trouble with the quad he hurt in the opener.  Carnell Williams once again will start in his place.

Analysis:  This news makes it all the more ridiculous that Jackson even claimed he could go out there last Monday.  Heading into the season there was concern about Jackson's workload as he approaches the danger zone age for running backs and the early injury does nothing but reinforce that worry.

2011 FANTASY FOOTBALL UPDATED QB RANKINGS

We are two weeks into the 2011 fantasy football season and so now is a good time to check out the first in-season position rankings starting with the QB spot.

1.  Aaron Rodgers
2.  Tom Brady
3.  Drew Brees
4.  Phillip Rivers
5.  Michael Vick
6.  Matthew Stafford
7.  Tony Romo
8.  Ryan Fitzpatrick
9.  Matt Schaub
10. Matt Ryan
11. Ben Rothelisberger
12. Eli Manning
13. Josh Freeman
14. Kevin Kolb
15. Jay Cutler
16. Cam Newton
17. Joe Flacco
18. Rex Grossman
19. Matt Hasselbeck
20. Sam Bradford

-Tom Brady has been by far the best performing QB in fantasy football so far this season but Rodgers is the guy you want long term.  The running element also allows him to hold onto the top spot at this point.
-Brees and Rivers are right behind the Big Two and both are doing what we expected as far as putting up big numbers.  Rivers just has to cut his turnovers a bit.
-Michael Vick is already dealing with injury issues after suffering a concussion last Sunday.  He has already taken a ton of punishment so I am doubtful of whether he can make it through the season in one piece.  Be sure you have a solid backup if you are an owner.
-Notice how high Stafford has climbed up the rankings.  Like with Vick, the only thing stopping him from stardom is injury.  He has silly numbers so far this season and his offense is packed out.
-Yes that is Ryan Fitzpatrick at number 8.  Honestly you can deny the guy the props any longer.  He has been awesome in both games so far and Chad Gailey is letting him air it out all day long.
-Kevin Kolb quietly is off to a great start with Arizona.  He is getting close to every week starting status.
-Eli Manning needs to be avoided as his receiving corps is decimated.  It will be a season-long struggle.

That's how I see it.  Let me know what you think.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: RAMS RB STEVEN JACKSON (QUAD) SITS OUT WEDNESDAY PRACTICE

St. Louis Rams RB Steven Jackson didnt practice Wednesday due to lingering pain in his quad.  Jackson was forced to sit out last Monday's loss to the New York Giants and his status is in question for this week as well.

Analysis:  Jackson is not obviously helping his fantasy football owners while on the bench.  If he doesnt practice either Thursday or Friday. we could be looking at him missing another game.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: TEXANS RB ARIAN FOSTER (HAMSTRING) TO SIT OUT SUNDAY

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster has ruled himself out for Sunday's game due to the continuing hamstring issue that has plagued him all season.  Ben Tate will start in his place.

Analysis:  No surprise here as Foster remains unable to do much on the football field until the hamstring clears up.  This is a very tough injury to come back from and it can be very unpredictable.  He clearly has to get back on the football field soon or else he seriously will be earning credit to a bust label.

FANTASY FOOTBALL TREND OR MIRAGE: MIKE WALLACE AS A PPR WEAPON

Heading into the 2011 fantasy football season, Pittsburgh Steelers WR Mike Wallace was looked at as a guy who could be a big time asset in standard TD heavy formats due to his breakout 2010 campaign.  Wallace busted out last season to the tune of catching 10 touchdowns on only 60 receptions.  The big play capability that Wallace had was born out in that season but the lack of top a top end receptions totals made him a bit less valuable for those who play in PPR formats.  With the Steelers being one of the most run heavy teams in the league yearly, it was a safe bet to assume Wallace would once again be an asset in yards and touchdowns but come up short in receptions.  Well apparently Wallace failed to get that memo in 2011 as he has gone crazy to start the season to the tune of 16 catches for 223 yards.  So many are wondering if Wallace is ready to ascend to that level of play and whether or not he can cement his status as a full blown fantasy football receiver this season.  So in our first Trend or Mirage column of the season, we look to see whether or not Wallace can continue being a PPR asset going forward or if his early burst will level off as the Steelers go back to their running ways.

Looking at Wallace's big start, many immediately said it was flukish after Week 1 as the Steelers fell way behind early against the Baltimore Ravens and so they needed to pass on almost every down as a means of trying to catch up.  That thought went out the window in Week 2 though as the Steelers steamrolled the Seattle Seahawks with Wallace matching the catch total he had the week before.  Clearly the Steelers are opening up the passing game more than usual and the evidence is right there in Wallace's numbers.

Now regarding whether or not this will continue, one key is in the actual running game itself.  Pittsburgh once again is having offensive line issues and that has been seen in the very shaky running performances in both games to this point.  Rashard Mendenhall has found little room to run and so the Steelers are being forced to throw in order to get their offense on track.  On top of that, Wallace is becoming a more all-around route runner in that he now longer is just going deep on every play.  He is not exploring the underneath routes which is helping to make him a better receiver as a whole.  We have seen that in the more intermediate passes he has corralled so far this season.

All in all I think Mike Wallace stands a great chance to continuing to be a top notch receiver in both TD heavy and PPR leagues.  Clearly Ben Roethlisberger looks to him first on almost all passing plays and the aging Hines Ward is not much competition for catches as well.  Wallace could be on the verge of a huge 2011 fantasy football season and so those who took the plunge here could be rewarded here in a big way.

MIKE WALLACE AS A PPR WEAPON:  TREND

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: TITANS WR KENNY BRITT'S HAMSTRING FLARES UP

Tennessee Titans star WR Kenny Britt was limited in practice Wednesday after reportedly having a flare up in his troublesome hamsting.  Britt has had a problem with the hamstring since training camp but has played through it with varying degrees of pain.  Head coach Mike Munchack however wasnt very concerned about it during his post practice news conference.

Analysis:  This is something to keep an eye on but I fully expect Britt to be on the field Sunday.  He is off to a torrid start in both standard and PPR leagues and so he is a guy that would be a major loss if he had to sit out.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: 49ERS WR BRAYLON EDWARDS OUT "SEVERAL" WEEKS AFTER KNEE SURGERY

San Francisco 49ers WR Braylon Edwards is out for several weeks after undergoing a procedure on his knee according to head coach Jim Harbaugh.  Edwards came out of last Sunday's game early as a result of hurting the knee and the surgery was ordered due to what took place in the joint.

Analysis:  Edwards is not much of a fantasy football option and he hasnt been in a few seasons.  If you play in a deep league I guess it is an issue but not one I want to waste much time on.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS" CHIEFS TO USE RB COMMITTEE

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Todd Haley said that the team will use a running back committee that will include Thomas Jones, Dexter McCluster, and LeRon McClain in the absence of Jamaal Charles who is out for the season with a torn ACL.

Analysis:  This makes a McCluster pickup less attractive but he is clearly the most dynamic of the three.  He wont get goal line work but McCluster should be picked up in PPR leagues due to his overall game.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: TEXANS RB ARIAN FOSTER (HAMSTRING) SITS OUT WED. PRACTICE, BEN TATE EXPECTED TO START SUNDAY

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster sat out practice on Wednesday as he continues to rest an ailing hamstring that has cost him one game and most of another.  Ben Tate is thus expected to start and get the majority of carries this Sunday since Foster is expected to sit again.

Analysis:  Its really getting ugly now for Foster fantasy football owners.  The consensus number 1 overall pick is royally screwing those who used the top spot on the guy coming off that blockbuster 2010 season.  Tate is doing a very good Foster impression so far and one has to wonder if the system like with the Mike Shaahan Broncos back in the day is more at work than the actual runner.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: JAGUARS TO START BLAINE GABBERT AT QB SUNDAY

It will be a battle of rookie QB's Sunday as the Jacksonville Jaguars will start Blaine Gabbert to go against Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers.

Analysis:  This is not a noteworthy fantasy football tidbit as Gabbert wont be useful for awhile.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: CHARGERS WR MALCOLM FLOYD (GROIN) LIKELY TO SIT SUNDAY

San Diego Chargers WR Malcolm Floyd is likely to sit out this Sunday due to a groin strain.  Floyd injured the groin during the team's Sunday loss to the Patriots and he has an extensive injury history to boot.

Analysis:  Floyd has a ton of talent but he has never been able to take full advantage due to injuries.  Vincent Jackson and Antonio Gates will get more looks as a result of this.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: BRONCOS RB KNOWSHON MORENO (HAMSTRING) TO TRY AND PRCTICE THIS WEEK

Denver Broncos RB Knowshon Moreno will attempt to practice this week after missing Week 2 with a hamstring strain.  Moreno has dealt with leg issues throughout his young career and its been more of the same this season.  Willis McGahee ran well in his place last week and it will continue to do so if Moreno cant go.

Analysis:  Moreno is garbage.  He cant stay healthy, he doesnt get goal-line work, and John Fox is not a fan.  Neither should you.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: BRONCOS CONFIDENT WR BRANDON LLOYD (GROIN) WILL PLAY SUNDAY

The Denver Broncos are fully confident that WR Brandon Lloyd will suit up and play this Sunday.  Lloyd missed last week's game with a groin strain but he apparently is going much better this week.

Analysis:  Good news as Lloyd remains a top end fantasy football WR with Kyle Orton at QB.  Get ready to get him back out there.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: EAGLES EXPECT QB MICHAEL VICK (CONCUSSION) TO PLAY SUNDAY

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Philadelphia Eagles brass fully believes that QB Michael Vick will start Sunday versus the New York Giants despite suffering a minor concussion Sunday night against the Atlanta Falcons.  Vick still has to pass his battery of tests to be cleared to go but its believed he will have no problem doing so.

Analysis:  I dont think the Eagles are being smart here by tossing Vick back out there so soon no matter how minor the concussion is.  If the Eagles would have won Sunday than I think he would have sat but clearly the team is concerned about going 1-2.  If you are a Vick owner, I would be very nervous about starting him against that Giants pass rush as one hit could spell the end in this game.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: BILLS WR DAVID NELSON TO START IN SLOT

In potentially big fantasy football news, Buffalo Bills WR David Nelson will be starting from now on in the slot position which is a heavily used weapon in head coach Chan Gailey's offense.  Nelson comes off a ten-catch bonanza where he secured the winning touchdown grab with seconds left on the clock.  With Steve Johnson hurting with a groin strain, Nelson could see a ton of work.

Analysis:  Nelson is a guy you have to pick up in all fantasy football leagues right now.  He could be the breakout candidate of the season as being in the slot in this offense is comporable to what the Patriots do with Wes Welker.

FANTASY FOOTBALL PLAYER ANALYZER: DENARIUS MOORE WR OAKLAND RAIDERS

One of the bigger "who the heck was that?" stories of the young 2011 fantasy football season occurred in Week 2 when one took a look at Oakland Raiders Denarius Moore's line in their shootout loss to the Atlanta Falcons.  Moore racked up a very impressive 5 catches for 146 yards and 1 TD.  Many surely went to the waiver wire after the game to check him out a little more closely and that makes him the perfect subject for our latest Fantasy Football Player Analyzer.  Lets take a look at what Moore has to offer those fantasy football owners who decide to take the plunge.

First a little background as always.  Moore is a rookie fifth round draft pick of the team out of Tennessee and he faced competition in the Raiders receiving corps when the season began.  Louis Murphy and Jacoby Ford were listed as the starters and Darius Reynaud-Bey was serving in the slot.  So there didn't seem to be much of chance for Moore to make an impact.  Than injuries struck as Ford hurt his hamstring and sat out the Bills game.  Reynaud-Bey also continued his disappearing act which allowed Moore to find himself with some meaningful snaps this past Sunday.  He certainly responded well with his big game clear evidence of this.  His blend of size and speed work well in the Raiders offense and so Moore could very well have earned more time as a result of this outing.  You definately know that Al Davis was watching and intrigued by this.

Now for some negatives.  The Raiders are a big time running team which they are well equipped for with Darren McFadden and Michael Bush as their backs.  Also Ford could return this week which will push Moore down a peg in the depth chart.  The opportunities just wont be there for more consistent production like we saw last week.

Ultimately, I don't think Denarius Moore is a guy who should be picked up at this point.  One big game doesn't make a fantasy football starter and the negatives that we spoke about will likely undermine what he could potentially yield to his owners every week.  Keep a watch on the guy but give it more time before you make a move there.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: EAGLES QB MICHAEL VICK (CONCUSSION) LOOKING TO PRACTICE WEDNESDAY

Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick is planning on practicing Wednesday despite suffering a concussion during Sunday night's loss to the Atlanta Falcons.  Vick has to be cleared through tests before he can get back on the field and that more than anything will determine if he can play this week.

Analysis:  Last season Aaron Rodgers missed a game with a concussion and the Eagles would be smart to let Vick sit out in order to prevent anything more serious.  If you are a Vick owner, start looking for his replacement pronto.

FANTASY FOOTBALL PLAYER ANALYZER: DAVID NELSON WR BUFFALO BILLS

Probably the most unsung fantasy football day to this point through two weeks of the season undoubtedly would be the spectacular 10-catch 83 yard 1 TD performance in the Buffalo Bills' comeback win over the Oakland Raiders.  It was a a "hey check me out I can play" performance by Nelson and he certainly has the attention of the fantasy football community as a result of that outing.  So now would be a great time to take a closer look at Nelton the player and determine what he can offer the rest of the way in our latest Fantasy Football Player Analyzer.

First a little history.  Nelson is only in his second season after being signed by the team as a free agent out of Florida.  Despite his lack of pedigree, Nelson got into 15 games as a rookie and caught a very solid 31 passes with 3 TD's.  He showed he could make plays when called upon and so the door was open for a more significant role for Nelson when 2011 arrived.  With Rosco Parrish continuing to show he is nothing more than a return guy, Nelson opened the season with a 4-catch outing for 66 yards which was followed by the Week 2 jackpot.  No doubt head coach Chad Gailey loves what he is seeing out of Nelson and so it would be foolish for him to not continue using him as a starter.  Also on top of that, Stevie Johnson pulled up lame in the fourth quarter with continuing groin issues and so the door is now open for Nelson to be the go-to-receiver in the so far explosive Bills aerial attack.  Good times indeed.

All in all, David Nelson is a guy that has to be added in almost all fantasy football leagues due to his presence in the Bills offense and the fact he has some big time ceiling.  At this time last year, Johnson was a no-name guy who suddenly burst on the scene.  Nelson has the same opportunity this season and so far he is doing everything he can to follow the same path.  Sure there will be some inconsistency since he is so young but Nelson at the very least should be  given the chance to breakout on your roster.

FANTASY FOOTBALL BREAKING NEWS: PATS TE AARON HERNANDEZ (SPRAINED MCL) COULD NOW MISS 4-6 WEEKS

Contradicting what the Boston Globe reported earlier in the day, Comcast SportsNet in New England is saying that Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez could actually miss 4-6 weeks with the sprained MCL he suffered Sunday instead of the Globe 1-2 week range.  No comment by the Patriots on this which is not a shocker but the team will likely have to be a bit clearer on this as we go through the week.

Analysis:  Terrible news for Hernandez owners if thats the case.  Hernandez was off to a tremendous start to the season but now this.  Rob Gronkowski will get a lot more work and his stock in fantasy football shoots up as a result.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: COWBOYS QB TONY ROMO SUFFERED PUNCTURED LUNG SUNDAY

In addition to a fractured rib, Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo suffered a punctured lung during Sunday's victory over the San Francisco 49ers.  ESPN is reporting that Romo's status hasnt changed for the next week and it helps that he has an extra day to heal since they play on Monday night against the Washington Redskins.

Analysis:  All the more impressive a performance by Romo in the game.  Its a scary sounding injury but word is that Romo will likely be in there Monday.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: RAMS DEACTIVATE RB STEVEN JACKSON (QUAD)

St. Louis Rams RB Steven Jackson is officially OUT for the Monday night game versus the New York Giants.  Jackson was battling a sore quad which he hurt in the opener last week but he didnt have enough time to get it ready to go which means Carnell Williams gets the nod.

Analysis:  No surprise here in that Jackson sits.  The flip side is that Williams is a decent start versus an inconsistent Giants defensive unit.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: GIANTS WR HAKEEM NICKS AND DE JUSTIN TUCK ACTIVE FOR MONDAY'S GAME

Both New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks and DE Justin Tuck are active and will start for the team in their Monday night game versus the St. Louis Rams.  Nicks was limited by a knee issue all week while Tuck was coming off a missed Week 1 with a stinger.

Analysis:  It was obviously for a few days that Nicks was playing.  Those who own the Giants defense will also be happy to see Tuck on the field again.

FANTASY BASEBALL OFFSEASON COMING FAST

The 2011 fantasy baseball season will be put into the books but of course I dont stop thinking about the game once September 28th rolls around.  Once the season is finished, I will get right to work as always on the 2012 fantasy baseball draft guide (position by position rankings and profiles, sleepers, busts, injury risk pitchers to avoid, etc.) and the guide should be ready by the end of October.  It will continuously be updated throughout the offseason when players sign in free agency and when trades take place.  All of this will be forwarded all offseason to those who subscribe to the Fantasy Baseball Offseason Draft Guide package.  The package runs for only $20.00 and is a must for all serious players.  Use the BUY NOW tab above to purchase your subscription.  Hope to have you aboard.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: COWBOYS WR MILES AUSTIN OUT UNTIL WEEK 6 WITH A BUM HAMSTRING

Dallas Cowboys WR Miles Austin will likely sit out the next two games and return to the team after the bye in Week 6.  Austin injured his hamstring at the end of his blockbuster outing against the San Francisco 49ers and he joins fellow wideout Dez Bryant on the sidelines for Dallas.

Analysis:  Another big time injury for fantasy football owners to digest.  From Peyton Manning to Jamaal Charles to Arian Foster and now this, it has been a very rough start to the fantasy football season for many owners.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: TEXANS RB BEN TATE THE STARTER UNTIL ARIAN FOSTER HEALS

Houston Texans RB Ben Tate has been annointed the team's starter according to head coach Gary Kubiak while Arian Foster recovers from his hamstring injury.  Foster reinjured his hamstring during Sunday's game and had to be forced out.  Tate came on in relief and cemented the win for the Texans with some nice catches and runs.  As far as Foster is concerned, he likely will sit Week 3 and maybe longer.

Analysis:  We all knew Foster was going to likely fall short of the video game numbers he put up last season but he is in BUST territory right now.  The fact that Tate has been so impressive is another issue as he could eat into Foster's time when he does in fact get back on the field.  Overall Tate is a must add in all fantasy football leagues for now and Foster has to be planted on the bench with no sign of when he could get back.

FANTASY FOOTBALL NEWS: GIANTS WR HAKEEM NICKS LOOKING LIKE HE WILL PLAY

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin was on record in his pregame briefing with the media stating that he "feels good" about WR Hakeem Nicks playing tonight against the St. Louis Rams.  Nicks has been limited all week with a knee injury suffered in last week's opener.

Analysis:  All signs point to Nicks playing but the same thing was being said of Brandon Lloyd yesterday before he was scratched at the last minute.  Keep track of this up until gametime.

FANTASY FOOTBALL WEEK 2 INFIRMARY REPORT: DAY OF MOURNING FOR JAMAAL CHARLES

Another week and another devastating injury for the fantasy football world.  This time its star running back Jamaal Charles who is out for the season with a torn ACL.  The top five pick is as big of an injury as you are going to get and in the season where Peyton Manning likely wont play a snap, its already shaping up as one of the most chaotic fantasy football seasons in that respect we have seen in years.  So lets dig into the latest Fantasy Football Infirmary Report by looking at all of the other injuries and what you should do as a result.

1.  Jamaal Charles (torn ACL, out for season):  Just a brutal blow to those who used a top pick on Charles.  There is obviously no way to replace that production but you have to start somewhere.  Start by checking to see if Ben Tate or is available as Arian Foster re-injured his hamstring.  Also check in on Daniel Thomas who ran for over 100 yards as he got the majority of carries Sunday.  Thomas Jones (ehhh) and Dexter McCluster (interesting) will fill the void for Charles.

2.  Arian Foster (re-injured hamstring):  Foster pulled himself out halfway through his debut Sunday as he re-injured the hamstring that kept him out for Week 1.  Ben Tate did a great job in his place again this week and hopefully you didn't cut him  heading into today's game.  If you are a Foster owner, get ready for him to miss at least Week 3 and maybe more as they team will try to get him right.  Check out Daniel Thomas and Dexter McCluster as well here if you are an owner.

FANTASY FOOTBALL ISSUES: THE JAMAAL CHARLES FALLOUT

No doubt the potential season ending injury to Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning is the most devastating injury that has occured in this very young fantasy football season.  A close second however is the season-ending ACL tear suffered by Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles during his Week 2 game versus the Detroit Lions.  Those owners who used a top five pick on Charles are singing the blues this morning and no one can blame them.  Of course like with Mannning, the season goes on and so lets take a look at what owners in this situation should be doing to help minimize this ugly development as best you can.

Obviously the first place to look in replacing Jamaal Charles on your squad is on the Kansas City Chiefs themselves.  Thomas Jones and Dexter McCluster will pick up the slack in his place but only one of these guys is worth looking at.  Jones is looking shot as he is well past the age where a running back can be effective.  McCluster however is a guy to watch as he has nearly the same type of game that Charles has.  He is explosively fast and can take it to the house on almost any occasion he touches the ball.  He also is a very good receiver out of the backfield and he also can line up wide.  Those in PPR leagues should pay even more attention.  McCluster has the chance to be an every week fantasy football running back 2 and maybe more due to his big time ability.  He is the best option to nab as Charles' replacement for the simple fact that they have as similar a type of game as you can get.

If McCluster has smartly been picked up by someone already in your league, than its time to broaden your horizons.  Week 2 revealed some more help in the forms of James Starks of Green Bay, Houston Texans RB Ben Tate, or Miami Dolphins rookie Daniel Thomas.  All three guys performed very well on Sunday and all three can serve as buffer to help lessen the loss of Charles for the rest of the season.

Regarding Starks, its clear that Ryan Grant has lost a step from his knee surgery and so he got the majority of carries on Sunday which resulted in a TD.  Starks also impressed by catching the football which is not something he has shown often.  The upside is there since Starks plays in a loaded offense that will give him a chance to hit paydirt often enough.

Moving on to Tate, Arian Foster suffered a relapse in his hamstring injury and the former came on in his place to run with authority and catch the football out of the backfield.  In fact if you didnt know any better, you would swear that Tate was in fact Foster out there.  He has that same type of running/receiving game and so as long as Foster is out, he remains a very solid fantasy football option.

Finally, Daniel Thomas burst out Sunday by running for over 100 yards while getting the majority of carries in the game.  Thomas ran with big time power and we all know that it was a fallacy thinking that Reggie Bush would get and be able to handle a heavy load of work.  Thomas thus is a guy who should be picked up immediately if you are a Charles owner due to the upside.  He wont catch the ball much but Thomas showed some solid running this past week.

All in all, its stating the obvious that Jamaal Charles cant be replaced.  However some of these names above could help you stay afloat and thats all that matters at this point.  Good luck and dont give up.
